Dunaway: It sounds like there’s an overall theme here about people being interested in these games that have not come to the United States.

Just bring them all over and there won't be this problem... >=|

Wired.com: I certainly hope so. Okay, apparently they’re all just asking about Soma Bringer.

Dunaway: Tell them I’m putting stars by that one in my notebook.

It's depressing that it's not in the works at the moment, but this is pretty good news!

Yeah, I can't imagine how it'll work. And how does that guy only have 49 beats up to that point. If you don't lose beats by getting hurt (lose hearts instead), it'll make the game a lot weaker, and new players wont appreciate and understand it as much.

How about losing both and zero hearts = instant game over?

Dunaway says some pretty cringeworthy stuff in that interview.  You can tell that she has little in-depth knowledge about Nintendo's products, and is there because of her executive experience.  I realize that she's getting asked Nintendo-nerd questions, but really, when she comes across as clueless as she does it just looks bad.  Every interview sounds like an interview with a mom that's trying desperately to be "hip".

Question: do Japanese DSes have English menus?

I still can't believe she couldn't name a single video game magazine!

Question: do Japanese DSes have English menus?

Yes unless that changed with the DSi, a japanese DS can be set to any language any DS supports. My DS is from Japan and is set to German, even though no DSes were sold here when I bought it.

Dunaway: No more details. We’re still working out what all the prizes are going to be. We’d love to hear ideas from the fanbase about what kind of things they’d like to see included in Club Nintendo. You will be able to take over some of the points that you have in your current My Nintendo account. It won’t necessarily be all titles, but some Wii and DS titles. We want people to be able to start off with some points. And it’s going to work similar to the way it works in Japan and Europe. Where you get credit for purchasing games and filling out surveys, credit for indicating advance interest in titles ... those same features.

Interesting. So, we won't all have to start fresh after all.

Japan gets loads of points with each game and lots of cool things to buy with them, Europe gets a pittance per game and just some cheap crap to spend iton, the kind you get for free for showing up on special events with other companies. Which will it be?

They did none of that in Europe, you'll have to hope for the Japanese system then.

You know, the whole introduction of Club Nintendo really makes you wonder why they bothered giving people the ability to register games in the first place (aside from their own selfish interest in tracking demographics).  I have a ton of games registered on Nintendo.com, and I honestly don't think I've gotten a single thing for the exercise (maybe the offer of a discounted Nintendo Power subscription, but again, that's pretty self-interested on their part).

Really?

Registering GC + 2 games = The Legend of Zelda: Collectors Edition
Kirby Canvas Curse = Pink Stylus
Brain Age 2 = Rainbow stylus set (Roy G Biv)
Phantom Hourglass = Quill Stylus

It's been rare, but registering games for goodies has definitely happened...

So stuff HAS existed.  I haven't gotten any of it, that's for sure.  Maybe it's because I don't need styluses and keychains (Nintendo's really breaking the bank on those, sheesh), so I never searched it out.

Yeah that stuff is crap. Gamestop has given away cooler stuff just for preordering the game. I'm hoping Nintendo does something awesome like in Japan, but due to the size of North America, I'm not expecting anything worthwhile.

Registering GameCube + 2 select games = The Legend of Zelda: Collectors Edition
(Avalanche 1080, Mario Party 5, Mario Kart: Double Dash and Mario & Luigi: Super Star Saga)
GameCube + any 5 Games = Metroid Prime 2 Demo Disc
Any three products = 3 free Nintendo Power issues
Kirby Canvas Curse = Pink Stylus
Brain Age 2 = rainbow stylus gift set
Phantom Hourglass = quill stylus
Wii = extra 3 months of warranty
Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree = Wii Remote light up key chain

Trimmed up a few, added one that was missing and moved them around to about the right order.

I've got all of these... How sad... ;)

There was a beanie for Avalanche?  Through MyNintendo?  Because I didn't get one... ?:\

Also, there was some kind of Custom Robo promo with the GCN game, but it was exclusive to Canada...
