Alright Club Nintendo!  About time!

Nintendo needs to be more subtle about blatantly jerking people around.  North America doesn't get the DSi until well into 2009 for what reason?  Because the Lite is still selling?  So in other words you're withholding the superior product for as long as possible so that ignorant people that don't follow online videogame news will continue to buy a soon-to-be obsolete product.  Okay every company does this stuff but don't announce it to everyone.  Don't be so open and giddy about being a jerk.  Make up some lie.  It's like the "we're not going to lower prices" announcements.  Don't TELL us that, just do it and hope we don't notice.

I'm pretty damn happy right now.  The only thing saddening is that I have to wait a while for alot of the stuff.

DSi, expanded SD use and Punchout!! are the biggest hurrays from me.  S&P 2 is a nice surprise, so is the slew of other nintendo games.

I think there's still a place for the DS lite even after the new model is released. Hopefully Nintendo will drop the price to at least the $99 milestone. And remember, the Lite has an edge over the DSi when it comes to battery life, as well as the ability to play GBA carts. I think the Lite makes a more logical choice for kids especially, because it doesn't have the camera and all that stuff which kids end up breaking anyway.

So my guess is Nintendo will probably still be manufacturing Lites alongside DSi units, at least for awhile anyway. The better battery life, ability to play GBA carts, and (hopefully) lowered costs are all strong incentives for owning one.

Fucking Club Nintendo,

Will customers who've already amassed tons of games get retroactive Club points or do we have to buy more of Nintendo's CRAP to get started?

Yeah exactly. I literally have about 100 games registered and I'm pretty certain that I'm going to get dicked on getting stars/points for all of that stuff. I guess I could always just call Customer Service and bitch up a storm.

Thoughts:

- I'm totally psyched for Club Nintendo.
- Sin & Punishment 2?  Awesome.
- Wii Speak Channel is brilliant.
- DSi is a day one purchase for me.
- Thank goodness they're going to streamline the SD Card file transfer interface.  It's so stupid that copying and erasing a game is two separate steps.  Give us a "Move" button that does both of those tasks at once, please.
- Fire Emblem with voice chat is really cool.  Hopefully more games will use this in the future.
- Mario & Luigi 3 is great news.

Questions:

- Has there been any confirmation that we'll be able to PLAY games off of the SD Card?  What I've seen so far has been all about being able to download directly to the SD Card.
- Treasure is developing S&P 2, right?  I haven't seen this outright confirmed.

When you buy WiiSpeak, you will receive a ticker which allows you to download the channel at no charge.

Finally, proof that they can provide vouchers.  From the beginning, I hoped Nintendo would do this kind of thing for, say, pre-order bonuses.  Now I know it's technically possible, so I can get all whiny about it.

Will customers who've already amassed tons of games get retroactive Club points or do we have to buy more of Nintendo's CRAP to get started?

That's why I've never registered a thing with them before.  Now I'm going to pile all of my games together and do the McDuck stroke.

I have a sneaking suspicion these will be new codes that only come with new games and we'll all have to start from scratch.

I was coming in here to ask the exact same question.

It appears that the GCN games being rereleased for Wii might actually be ports after all (I had seen people talking as if these were simply the GameCube games in new packaging).  Take a look at the screen shot for Jungle Beat.  Or did I miss an announcement for a Wii sequel to that game?

This is the big one on my mind as well, but Nintendo has seriously fucking redeemed itself with this conference.

THIS IS THE PIKMIN ANNOUNCED AT E3

And yeah GameCube games getting widecreen options and real Wii Remote control shoe-horning.  Much better than Capcom's RE-ports of the RE Cube games.

I suspected as much when I saw the widescreen Pikmin shot, but couldn't remember for certain whether the game originally supported widescreen.
