Bomberman Blast
« on: September 13, 2008, 10:09:28 PM »
This is my first bomberman game (I know I know.. about time) so i'm no expert on what the series normally has, but this is bloody amazing with the best multiplayer ever. 8 players can play off one system using 4 GC controllers and 4 wiimotes, and 4 can play online via the same system. There's heaps of modes and options and it's just full of hilarity. Get it if you like multiplayer and bomberman without a doubt.

Friend code thread please.

WiiWare version is out in Australia. Don't know what the release schedule for other regions is.

Wiimote held sideways. Dpad to move, 2 to drop bombs, A to "taunt" (custom message plus custom pose). I think 1 is throw bombs or something, i'm still getting used to bomberman. No pointer in the game. Nunchuck not used, Cube controller an option, haven't used it but I'd guess the button layout is fairly simple.

You can play with your Mii's correct?  When they walk into a bomb, is there any guts that fly and stick to the screen?

You can put a Mii head on your character yep, but I haven't figured out how to do it. I played with Infernal for about an hour and he was using his Mii, that's how I know. No guts but "you're FUCKED" screams at you through the wiimote speaker.

Since when did WiiWare games get release dates more than a week in advance, if at all?

On Wiiware World it sounded like you have to unlock it by playing every world at least once. Maybe they wanted players to give the default look a chance or something...

There is a full Bomberman game coming out on the Wii as well.  And that one will be multiplayer compatible with the WiiWare version, but also have a full single player experience, and more importantly a few extra multiplayer levels.

I am having a hard time deciding which one to get.

What Spak said...The fact that there isn't a release date for the retail version, and that it's unlikely that they'd release the WiiWare version before said retail version, is a bit annoying... =\

On Wiiware World they said the retail game won't be released outside of Japan.

Yep, the American version of the full retail game has been canned.

Also you unlock Mii's by playing each stage once in single player. =')

Edit; Mah review's up~

So does that mean that the Wii Ware version for America will have all the multi-player levels including in the Japanese release?

To me it sounds like a better plan just having the WiiWare Title, cheaper as well.

This is my first bomberman game (I know I know.. about time)

I'm in the same boat.  I've never been curious enough to purchase a full retail game, but this is a day 1 purchase for me.

So apparently I suck at Bomberman.  :(

Gotta keep practicing, I suppose.

The game feels very different from the Bomberman's of old.  I cut my teeth on Super Nintendo Bomberman 1 and 2...and this game plays different.  Not bad, but being able to run diagonal is very strange.

The weapons seem simplified, as in there are some powerups it appears you can only hold one at a time.  I actually like this if it is true better than previous games because there is some strategy to picking up items.

I agree, it feels very different.  The play areas also seem a little crowded, almost as if there's too much going on at once.  I find it really hard to find where you are at the start of the level, too.

Oh yeah, and I suck.

If you mean bomb types those were always mutually exclusive AFAIK
