Captain Rainbow is almost certainly not going to be released here so it's existence is rather meaningless to us.
Yeah, this doesn't look like it's going to come stateside.
Which is a damn shame, because this looks to cater greatly to the Nintendo fanbase, more so that Brawl even.
Looking at the trailers, it looks like Skips aims to revive these characters people once loved or respected and even re-invent them.
One of the greatest things about Chibi-Robo was the interaction of characters. Helping them out and learning their stories made for some complex and engaging storytelling. Captain Rainbow looks to follow the same concept as Chibi, but with Nintendo characters. It would just enhance Nintendo fandom even further.
Seeing the Little Mac trailer sold me on the idea. It makes sense that he is fat in the game. What happens to a world champion when he retires or can't get a gig? They get fat. Nintendo has been neglecting him for years (save for the trophy in Brawl), so its only logical that he is portrayed as a fat guy in need of training.
People are right in that both Chibi Robo games were localized, but the first game came at the end of the GC's life and the DS sequel was a Wal-mart only game. Nintendo clearly knows that Skips' games are for a niche crowd, and can't bother to fully release them.
With Captain Rainbow drenched in so much fruitiness, obscure Nintendo references and Japanese humor that automatically makes it a no-no in the US.
Which is, once again, a sad thing because this looks to be something special that does better service to Nintendo history than real Nintendo games.
