Topic: E3: 2008 Is about 3 weeks away what Wii news are you expecting and hoping for?

IGN is hinting Kid Icarus, Pikmin 3 and Animal crossing and a surprise game, however this is Nintendo and nobody knew about WiiSports or WiiFit so they might be a total surprise.

What we do know is that they have more "core games" coming so thats good news and they are considering solutions for storage problem.

This is an odd E3 we already have Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Smash Brothers, and Mario Kart on the Wii so we really don't know what exactly to see.

My predictions: Firmware update that allows SD storage for VC and Wiiware games. Nintendo will provide 2 GIG SD cards with some games pre-installed onto them at stores to buy, but any SD card will be fine.

Nintendogs: Pedigree Edition (09) and WiiMusic (09) for Wii with online support for Casual gamers and announce Animal crossing but it won't be released until next year.

Nintendo will publish The Conduit and will surprise everyone with November release date when previously not expected to release this year. Pikmin 3 will be shown with claymation art style  (same as commercials) which will upset some hardcore gamers but it will be a great game and release in October. Kid Icarus rumors will come to pass and it will play like a mix of God of War and Super Mario Galaxy.

Nintendo will apologize for Smash Brothers Online problems and shut down the servers during E3 and will turn them back on after and will works allot better and as good as we hoped for.

Squarenix will surprise everyone with Kingdom Hearts that includes Nintendo characters for the Wii which will also release THIS year.

I predict a huge E3 , and Nintendo to ignore the casual market for the rest of the year as they try to keep up supply of Wiifit for them and focus on Hardcore gamers. The balance board will be used by 3rd parties but Nothing shown from Nintendo themselves and challenges 3rd party developers to develop better looking, better controlling games. Reggie will come out aggressive and say Wii has been home of to many games that look and play like garbage, this is shameful and scorn the lazy 3rd parties. This e3 Nintendo will make hardcore gamers love them again.

Vega, if all that stuff happened... MAN! Pikmin and Kid Icarus are what I completely expect. But that Kingdom Hearts stuff would completely blow me away.

I expect allot of companies to really jump on the Wii boat this year, with real games this time. And by real games, I mean great(seemingly at least) quality games exclusive to Nintendo.

Also Star Fox, by Nintendo, is what I wan't the most. More than any new franchise, or existing one.

Though what I hope for but know it will never happen is downloadable Dixie Kong and Ridley for Brawl.

I've been a fanboi long enough to know the sting of expecting the world and Nintendo not giving it to me at E3. Sooooooo....

I expect a lot of people to come back from the conference sort of underwhelmed and as always, a little bit confused over what to feel about Nintendo's mainstream success. Nintendo always puts on a GREAT SHOW and a wonderfully coordinated, fast-paced, and entertaining one as well. But they always focus on different things than what the internet expects and what MS or Sony do. It seems like after every media event the enthusiast internet observer comes walking away feeling like they're not the center of the universe. However, the warm glow of the internet fixes that right up quick.

But enough ranting! Let's talk about Nintendo's Press Conference...

I fully expect:

-Nintendo to talk about a lot of old news: Super Mario Sluggers, Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Mario kart, Brawl
-Nintendo to talk about their channels, Nintendo channel especially and its place in how they can reach wii owners for ads and market research
-Nintendo to talk about passing XBox 360 in America and being in number 1 in all major markets worldwide
-Nintendo to talk about WiiWare success
-Nintendo to talk about Wii users, how lots of players are "core gamers", probably use examples like Mario kart and their own demographics research

My wild predictions include:

-Nintendo will show off Kirby for the Wii, call it a "bridge title," launching this holiday season
-Nintendo's press conference will be the first place we get an eye on some new WiiWare game from a no-name developer
-Nintendo announces stronger SD card support as a storage solution

My baseless hopes include:

-Nintendo announces Animal Crossing online this holiday season
-Nintendo showcases upcoming third party games like de Blob, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of a New World
-Nintendo has High Voltage Studios come up onstage to showcase Conduit
-Nintendo also briefly mentions that Red Steel 2 is coming
-We get an update on Wii Music, maybe hitting 2009?

I'm going to turn into Jonny and say that online play wouldn't add much to the game. The great part of Pac-Man vs. was the insanity of 4 people and the atmosphere of having them all in the same room. It's like making Mario Party online, the game wouldn't even be half as fun. Voice chat and playing with friends could help, but still nowhere near as good.

~ On the DS side, Soma Bringer, Professor Layton and Pandora's Box, and Glory of Heracles will all be localized this year...Kirby Ultra Super Deluxe delayed to release alongside Kirby Wii (September 29th release)...
~ I expect Wii Music and Animal Crossing to take up a nice chunk of the conference, just like Wii Fit did last year...
~ New Super Mario Brothers 2 revealed, being a spiritual sequel to Super Mario 3 or World...November 2008 release...
~ GOLDEN SUN 3 (for DS)...
~ Retro's new Wii game will be revealed (Zelda rumor?)...Release will be Summer/Fall 2009...
~ Pikmin 3 (possibly by NST?) will be revealed for Wii, as might Star Fox (done internally), but F-Zero is dead...
~ NST will reveal a new IP for Wii...Release will be early 2009...
~ A couple new games will be revealed for use with the Balance Board, including Wario Ware Balanced...
~ Third party roll including footage for FFCC: The Crystal Bearers (which will be a completely different looking game than it looked in the original teaser) and Monster Hunter 3...Nintendo will also announce that they have gained exclusive rights to another major 3rd party franchise...
~ A new Zelda Wii trailer will appear, but not at the conference...Instead, it will pop up the next day much like the Brawl trailer did...

I will say that I think Kingdom Hearts on Wii is becoming more and more probable.  In my opinion, if it was on PS3, they would have already shown it in some form...

That said, as much as I want Nintendo universes to be in it, I'm still not sold that that would happen.

You'd only need 1 DS, for the person that's Pac Man, everyone else could just use Wiimote in NES position. The game would work so much better with everything wireless, the cords always got tangled when we passed the controllers around. It probably shouldn't have headlined an E3 press conference, but it was some of the best multiplayer fun I had on the Cube. Probably second-best, only narrowly edged out by TimeSplitters 2.

Pikmin 3 would just make my day.  That's it.  Release that and I'll play nothing else for the rest of the year.  I want more than that.  I want something really creative a different that ISN'T targetted at non-gamers.  But Pikmin 3 would suit me fine.  I would have no problem with using a claymation style either.  That would fit the game well.  I think I like the current style more but it wouldn't bother me that much.  Just no cel-shading or paper-thin stuff.  Pikmin has to look like nature for it to really work.

And don't ruin it for non-gamers.  Make it for the people who loved the first two games.

Rumor has it Reggie will be unveiled this year.  Reggie will be presenting during this portion of the conference.

Rumor also has it that Nintendo of America's President Reggie Fils-Awesome will take over Mario Kart Wii onrine.

Maybe they could give Reggie a sidekick, a guy to polish Reggie's boots before and after he kicks asses and keep track of all the names Reggie took. He could be eleven feet tall and have the strength of 17 men but never speak, only roar like an angry puma.
