Yeah, Sonic was based on Mickey Mouse but nobody ever gets them confused. Calling Robotnick Eggman is just silly. Why doesn't Nintendo just call Mario Jumpman then? That was his original concept.

If they were going to use that concept they should have gone all the way. Make it an evil version of Teddy Roosevelt, come up with some Star Trek Mirror Universe-esque story for how he got there, and have him ride in on a 10 foot tall robotic Bull Moose. That would have been awesome. But calling him Eggman is just stupid.
