"Even with the Ubisoft clarification, the dearth of quality PSP software has still claimed at least one victim. In related PSP news, Ready at Dawn--previously a strong supporter of the PSP platform--has officially shuttered development on the portable so it can focus exclusively on the Wii."

I didn't realize that the PSP had any "stronger supporters"...

Yes I can't wait to see what these guys can do, like Vicarious Visions, I think they could be a great benefit to the Wii with proper funding. They know how to craft solid gameplay and be able to push visuals. Even with Okami's VERY short development time and all the hurdles they still managed to create a solid port that rivals if not surpasses the PS2 version.

Do any of you realize how significant this is? This has got to be the first time since the age of Atari that Nintendo has managed to get a 3rd party to defect exclusively to its system.

But will they be able to downgrade their PSP level graphics to work on the technologically inferior Wii? /thirdpartytroll

You mean back when Nintendo and Sega both were just 3rd parties.

Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Yeah seriously, I don't know where the "Wii exclusivity" came from.  All I saw was:

After working with Sony so much, my assumption would be that their console platform of choice would be PS3, which they would then port over to 360.

I personally think they may work on at least one game for Wii, they really pushed for Okami to come onto Wii so they have respect for the platform. Also they may want to detach from Sony a bit and go their own way, but hey I could be wrong!

I like Ready at Dawn, but I'd hardly call this significant. They've yet to make 1 original IP.

That's just what would make it so exciting: they could do it on the Wii.

So a small developer who has only worked on PSP (I'm obviously not counting the Okami port-job) will run straight uphill into PS3 development?  For some reason I find that illogical unless they get a crapload of developer support from Sony or some other publisher...

the only significance this has is one less developer for the PSP, which needs to just die already anyways.

They could. That doesn't mean they're going to. Let me know when they are and I'll go ahead and get excited.
