The HOT new game from Capcom. Developed by the western Bionic Games team. Looks a bit generic.

I am hoping this game's textures and effects are not completely done yet, and this is a rough build to show off the game.

As for the gameplay, it still could be great.  Remember games are about gameplay if it is fun to play.

That being said, I hope that this game gets some more polished.

Well since it's being made by ex-Insomniac employee's it does have a chance of being good, so I'll take a wait and see approach with it.

Thye screens are horrible, but the trailer show off the game and its wacky direction so much better.

Ah, that makes sense and inspires confidence at the same time. Though it does look like they're still thinking they're working on the PS2.

The game IS hitting in 2009. I'm assuming all these shots are WIP.

My oppinion is that if the shots are really so bad that they pull the product's PR down then they shouldn't have been released.

Has there ever been a game where crappy graphics actually WERE a placeholder?  I mean you hear that a fair bit but I'm trying to think of a game that looked terrible at first and then later looked great.  Seems like something we assume or hope for but I can't think of when it actually happened.

Right now it looks generic.  There's something... not... Capcom-y about it, if you know what I mean.  Capcom has a certain style that I associate with them so that even something that strives for semi-realistic visuals like Resident Evil has a Capcom look to it.  You know it's them by just looking at it.  This looks a little Kuju-esque.

Wait now Capcom is relegated to a style? Zack and Wiki had amazing style and was FRESH. There is nothing wrong with having an artistic look to things, in fact that is what works best with Wii and I LOVE it because it balances out the more realistic looking games I play on 360/PS3.

The art style looks different because it's being made by a western developer, Bionic Games.

I'm holding opinion until I see the game in action. I'm none too pleased with the premise or the art style, mainly because there's too much of it on the Wii as it is. If it actually plays well, then I'll excuse it and hold it as a shining example of how this type of game should be done.

I still want to see an 'obvious' AAA title from a third party though.

At least Capcom is able to respond to the skepticism in a competent manner, unlike Ubisoft.

Quote
Dark Void and Spyborgs are the two biggest titles our office is working on. To say that either of them isn’t an incredibly high priority for the company, with major resources against them would be a pretty big misunderstanding of the reality. The team working on Spyborgs is an all-star team of some of the best character action game developers in the world, backed by us. Have faith. This is a game that is incredibly thoughtful in its design, incredibly varied in its mechanics and will be incredibly fun to play (both alone or with a buddy/son or daugther/father or mother) when its done. The initial reaction here (Capcom boards) I swear is the EXACT reaction so many of you posters had when we first revealed Zach & Wiki. Somehow, Z&W is now a posterchild title for the Wii in your eyes. Mark my words… you will feel exactly the same way about the level of quality in Spyborgs when it is done. …Again, this is a big, epic game. A far cry from typical Wii shovelware. You’ve heard my rants on that before… I won’t go through it again.

The irony is, we met High Impact (and by extension their subsidiary Bionic Games) at a mutual license pitch that neither we nor they were really interested in. As we met them though, I learned a bit more about who they were, what they’d done and we went back to their office to chat more about “other things”. Once there, as we talked about other business opportunities, on the walls of their conference room was some early concept work for what was to become Spyborgs. While they weren’t really pitching it, I asked what it was.

So while those other business opportunities were interesting, we really wanted them to take their amazing creative energies and work on something they were passionate about… not on things that would pay the bills. So we suggested they pursue their concept a bit more with us (even though it wasn’t really developed fully into a pitch at that time), they did, we liked what we saw and the direction they were taking. From the outset the concept was dreamed up for the Wii and we signed it before pretty much anyone else could swoop in and do so and we’ve been there from nearly day one.

(in reference to a release date) 2009 is all we’re saying. I will say it’s not in this fiscal year.

I'm still taking a wait and see approach here. I think they're making the same marketing mistake EA made with Boom Blox by angling this more as a kids game than a game for everyone. Didn't they learn from Zak & Wiki? The name made it seem like it was for 8 year olds, when in actuality it was a very challenging game that anybody could enjoy.

Well considering Capcom has yet to have a crap game on Wii (at least I don't think even if a few of those were solid ports) I see no reason to doubt them. It looks like they are putting resources into the game and hopefully it is backed by a marketing campaign which Zack and Wiki did not receive.
