Top 1,300 High Schools in America

My alma mater managed to not come in dead last, but instead third from last at # 1,298.  Which is actually better than 1,326 where it ranked in 2007.

Mine didn't make the list. That seems about right, the place sucked, at least in terms of academics. My Junior and Senior year I took classes online at home anyway.

I went to a private school, though the public High School I would have gone to isn't even on the list! Not to surprising though considering they handed out grades like candy and focused on the athletics. At the University of Washington a 4.0 from my local HS is automatically knocked down to a 3.0.

Well then, consider your schooling above most any government school.

The internet classes were great, but they require a lot of self discipline to keep a schedule and do, which is why it took me an extra semester to finish them, and I'm still not done with the phys ed requirement, which is delaying my going to college.

Rank 208 - Palm Harbor University High School (Palm Harbor, FL).

I didn't graduate from there because I moved my senior year, but when I was there, at the time we were ranked number 14. Funny enough, I thought my schooling there sucked and I felt I got a better education after I had left and went to a school that isn't even listed there.

mine isnt there for the 08 list, but it surprisingly made it for the 07 list...
at rank 1311... i thought the ranking was for the top 1300! i LOL'd cuz that school district (not just my high school) was horrible).

Most of the people i went to high school with i knew from elementary and middle school, and in those schools the principal would pass kids on to the next grade just because. I remember this one kid not getting held back agrade when we were in 4th grade even though he stole money from every kid in class while we were at lunch, stole school property (cd-roms), and even assaulted a teacher. High School wasn't that much different either.

So they say, generally it is true. The IB program is very strong in the state, so generally speaking, if you are a bit more excelled than others, you will get a phenomenal education. Palm Harbor has one of the leading IB programs in the country. By the time I graduated high school, I had a full year of college credit, thanks to getting ahead with the IB program. Schools that offer alot of AP classes are similar as IB is just like AP (you even take the AP tests for credit), but you are guaranteed with IB to be taking a class that will prepare you for the AP exam.

EDIT - Also wanted to mention, HOLY CRAP. I just realized that I have been out of High School for 5 years already, feels like I was there yesterday. Time flies ...
