Viva Pinata 2
« on: May 14, 2008, 01:01:26 AM »
For those who never got the chance to play the first game, well you SHOULD. Now I am not the least bit surprised there is a sequel (I found out about it around the time I found out about Pinata Party long before it was announced). I will be pleasantly surprised though if it makes a September launch. Regardless, Rare is making this sequel more by the books but that is not a bad thing, they seem to be tweaking every possible aspect of the game to bring players more into it. What is most exciting is there will be a co-op mode. It will be unfortunate if the game is looked over again, though I do know MS was content with the sales of the last game but they no doubt want to improve them this time.

So who else is excited to raise cute little Pinata animals who maliciously devour other Pinatas? I know I am!

I played the first game all the time and loved it.  It's very relaxing and the visuals are amazing.  However, my love turned to utter hatred once I unlocked the largest garden and found that they had set an arbitrary limit on how many pathways I could create, resulting in me not being able to create my dream garden.  So I turned it off and never played it again.

Well it sounds like they've managed to relax many of the limits from the first game so hopefully that has been changed as well.

Actually here is a quote from the IGN article

Quote
The limit on how many things you can have in the garden at once has gone up significantly even as the framerate has become more stable. The game looks great in motion and is still fresh and exciting despite the fact that many piƱatas are recycled from the first game.

This is pretty much what happened to me and my fiancee when we were playing it. I have been tempted to toss it back in and start over from scratch again, but haven't gotten around to doing so. Maybe I'll just pick this sequel up and enjoy the hell out of it. Co-op is EXACTLY what this game needed.

That just means they're OK with rehashing assets as long as it's HD.
