I live here in the UK but I have a US Wii and want to get a US version of Wii Fit. I realize that it seems like at the moment demand is outstripping supply. My Sister is going to be in the Dayton, New Jersey area at the end of this week. Is there any chance she might find it in stock ? Would somewhere like Best Buy or Target be the best place to check. It would be much better if she could bring it back as if I order it online the shipping cost is going to be ridiculous due to the size and weight.

You can use the PAL version and the Wii Freeloader, until Nintendo finally blocks it.

Yes I'm aware of that and I do have a copy of Freeloader. I would rather have the US version if I can get it so I don't have to use Freeloader every time or run the risk of a firmware update disabling it's use. I only bought the Freeloader so I can borrow games from other family members who have PAL Wii's and PAL games.

My Amazon pre-order shipped yesterday!
I'm relieved because it initially said "shipping estimate: May 27th".

I was looking forward to this game, but its turning out to be the one game i didnt pre-order and won't get my hands on without effort.

I know some people that still cant find games like brawl in stores, so i dont even want to imagine how hard it'll be to find wii fit. I was hoping i'd get this on day one and it'd be fun enough to keep me at it so i could get back in shape. I'm not obese, only a few pounds overweight, and i can't motivate myself to just work out and lose a few pounds. I hoped with wii fit making games out of work outs and keeping graphs and charts it'd be really easy to get into. Now it looks like i'll continue being a fat ass.

awesome.

I've been eating better and exercising, I figure this will complement those. I've lost 10 pounds already and I want to keep going in that direction.

i've been eating better too. not because i really want to but it turns out i have high cholesterol. Still, i don't work out often so wii fit could of been my motivator. oh well.

maybe i'll just try working out the old fashion way.. and give up after a week (like i did to playing brawl online OH SNAP)

I got our review copy of Wii Fit in last week and so far I've lost about five pounds using it.

Okay, so it wasn't all because of the game.  Most of that loss was because of me being careful of what I'm eating, some light weightlifting, and whole hell of a lot of DDR.  Still, it's nice to see how much weight you can lose day-to-day which gives you the motivation to keep at it.

I'll have impressions on the site tomorrow and a full review next week, featuring my mommy!

If you ate absolutely nothing for a period of time like that your body would go into starvation mode, a way of conserving as much body weight as possible. That doesn't explain why you'd gain weight, but it explains why you didn't lose it.

WiiFailure?

Only one other person at my store tonight to get one.

Anyone know if the JPN or EU versions came with the "Feet Extensions"?

Also, you may all thank me again.  WiiFit comes in a plastic case. :)

Okay, a few WiiFit complaints.

First, I hate that you have to hang on to the Wii Remote or constantly pick it up/put it down... it's really inconvenient.  Seems like there should have been a way to "Press A" without the Wii Remote.

Second, I did about 50 mins worth of stuff and, apparently, gained 1.3 pounds.  WiiFat, am I right?

Third... I have big feet.  Like, really big feet.  Like Size 17 Shoes.  My heels/toes hang off a bit and my heel is rather sore from the edge of the Wii Balance Board.

And, finally, not really a complaint, but a note - make sure you insert the WiiFit disc before trying to sync the Wii Balance Board... I couldn't figure out why it wasn't syncing... had to RTFM.

What I'm worried about is that I've heard that it doesn't work as well for tall people. I haven't heard specifics, but I'm about 6'4" and I hope this is going to work.

I'm about 6'4" and didn't have any real issues (the Yoga poses that I have to stretch to the ceiling have me touching the ceiling and anything that has me crawling around on the floor isn't good in the room I'm in... but none of this is the Balance Board's/WiiFit's fault).  Just the foot thing.  I just wrote a crazy letter to Nintendo "complaining" about my feet not fitting on the board.  If I get a reply, I'll post it. :)

I've had a few hours to play with Wii Fit now and my initial impressions are pretty positive. I'm 6'2" myself and haven't noticed any problems outside of my feet not quite fitting onto the balance board. I can't imagine that too many people out there wear a 13 1/2 shoe though (or bigger, UncleBob, you sasquatch!). I can't say that I felt the BMI to be very fair toward my fiancee however. It's obviously not a very accurate system anyway, but there's no way it was right about her. She has a wider frame than your typical woman from a commercial. It's not fat, just general build. That said, it's guesstimate seemed pretty on par when gauging me.

I think that the game would have been better off if it actually did something to help you achieve the goals that you set. It could set up a routine or suggest certain exercises pretty easily, but it doesn't. Furthermore, it seems that the only way to mark off a day is to weigh in. I don't think that weighing ones self every day is beneficial, as your weight will fluctuate from day to day. Perhaps once a week would have been better, with the "I played today" stamp requiring some activity instead.

Though perhaps a little beyond the scope of the game, it would have been nice to see a calorie counter added. You could input what food you ate throughout the day and get a sense of what your nutritional intake is. Likewise, you could input an estimate of any exercise outside of Wii Fit. Using this, the game could further offer more customized routines. There are plenty of websites and diet programs that do this, such as Spark People .

Graphically, the game is very clean. With so little going on however, I find the noticeable jaggies to be somewhat disappointing when looking at the Balance Board caricature and such. Also, why don't the trainers' mouths move when speaking? That alone throws things off a bit.

"It could set up a routine or suggest certain exercises pretty easily, but it doesn't."

Yeah, that was a disappointment.  There should be an option to choose how long you want to work out, then, based on your current information (Goal Weight/BMI, Balance, activities preferred, etc..), the Wii should design a work-out program for you that day.  Start up with some Yoga warm-ups, Do some athletic activities, enjoy a game or two, then cool down with a nice job...  Granted, you could do all this yourself, but since the activities don't tell you how long each of them take before starting, you're just kinda guessing how much time it'll take.

If I could tell my Wii that I have 15 minutes, come up with the best things for me to do today, that'd be much more helpful.
