More clichés (spoilers)

It seems to be a growing fad to have disembodied heads and hands with eyes (or other things) embedded into the palms.  The boss of the Tower of the Gods fits this one well.  Ocarina's shadow temple boss comes pretty close too.  Then there's Andross from Star Fox, and a boss from Mario 64 in the desert world.  What's going on with this?

I don't know but I have wondered the same thing myself. It seems that Miyamoto or someone at Nintendo has some weird fetish for those things.

Heh. . . but floating body parts are cool.  And I wouldn't call that a cliché. . . blowing people up with guns and watching topless women *cough* Vice City *cough* are clichés.

Vice City looks fun, but it isn't exactly overflowing with ingenuity.

I'd call it a cliché.  Both me and my friend groaned when we saw that boss (separately) on our own playthroughs of the game.  The floating hand and head boss is so overdone it's not even a challenge the think of how to beat it.  The same thing with the room with a lit torch, one or more unlit torches, and a stick.

You are going to find a lot of reused bosses in the Gaming industry if it works. It was modeled after an Incan guardian, which fits so why not use it to guard the Goddess' Tower.
Stupidity is lost on my. Then again I'm almost always lost.

The boss, from screens and movies I've seen, seems to be well done.  Does a cliché plot matter if you have interesting twists?  No.  Besides, temple of the Gods seems to suggests idols and statues and ancient alters, and this boss seems to reflect that. . . it can bother you if you want it to, but it's fine with me.  But perhaps it is a cliché. . . I mainly only play Nintendo games.
