Ace Attorney: Prosecutor Edition Confirmed
« on: April 09, 2008, 07:32:12 AM »
Capcom have confirmed Turnabout Prosecutor, a spin-off from the Phoenix Wright series on Nintendo DS. The lead characters will be Miles Edgeworth and Dick Gumshoe, both from the original series.
 http://nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=15723

A project dubbed “New Turnabout Not Courtroom” was announced by Capcom to be revealed this month. The Ace Attorney series is known as “Turnabout Courtroom” in Japan so for a while, many people expected news of a continuing concert series. Few expected an Ace Attorney game with a viewpoint from the opposite side of the courtroom, as revealed in the most recent edition of the Japanese magazine, Famitsu.

With the title Turnabout Prosecutor, Miles Edgeworth, an iconic prosecutor from the Phoenix Wright series, becomes the main character. In the games, the prosecution and detectives work together to examine crime scenes and verify evidence. Accompanying Edgeworth will be the detective from the original series who was friendly with the defense, Dick Gumshoe.

Scans from the magazine show huge changes to the gameplay. Rather than a first person perspective and point-and-click interaction, the game shows the characters modelled from top to toe, walking around the scenes to examine evidence and inconsistencies that are present. There are new systems for search and deduction for interacting with crime scenes.

So far, there is no known release date for Turnabout Prosecutor.

Well my fiancee will definitely be excited over this one. I guess I don't get the whole Phoenix Wright draw. I played the first one to completion and walked away unimpressed, thought it was a bit boring actually.

I love Edgey, but I fear this fan service may result in jumping the shark. Perhaps this will play differently enough to be a spin-off series, though.

Nice. I just got in to Apollo Justice, and it's nice to have something else to look forward to.

For once, I love how Capcom's milking a franchise for everything it's worth. As long as the writing remains great, they can churn these games out twice a year and I'd still buy them.

I still need to buy Ace Attorney 3 & 4 (Trials & Tribulations and Apollo Justice). This new game sounds interesting, but where the hell is my Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Wii Edition?

Ya know Rhoq, i was actually thinking about starting a thread a few weeks ago after i finished Apollo Justice wondering if you guys all thought a Wii version of the pheonix wright games would work.

should it keep the first person perspective?
if so should it be free-roaming 3D or 2D point & click via the wiimote? etc, etc..

It would require the user to thrust the Wiimote forward when they want to object... :cool;

(Yes, I would love a full-blown Wii Ace Attorney adventure...)

wow i didnt even think of that bill. that'd be freaking sweet!

it should be ds compatible so you could yell into the mic as you thrust the wiimote forward... yeah thats the only reason i could think of using the ds for the wii game right now.

if you played as apollo the wiimote could vibrate when his bracelet reacts to peopls tension. that'd be sweet too

I thought for sure that after reading about the 'Harvey Birdman' game that came out a few months ago that it was just a matter time before Phoenix Wright found himself on the Wii.

I wouldn't care whether it was 2D or 3D (or hell a 2.5D Viewtiful Joe-esque brawler, LOL). Whether it featured the same type of choice-based gameplay/movement or if it were a "point & click". I just want to see the series make the transition to the Wii. Hopefully Capcom will see that Atlus has had success with the Wii installments of the 'Trauma Center' series and consider bringing Phoenix Wright & co. over to the DS' big brother.

There's only three negatives i can think of if this did come to Wii:

1. Lack of voice acting
2. HORRIBLE voice acting
3. when the case starts getting really intense and interesting, i won't be able to take it to the bathroom with me (you know you've done it too)
