Stage Builder

We need a stage builder thread, so here it is. I'll post some stages I made eventually, but first, a question...

I unlocked all the stage builder parts, but there was a part in yesterday's (the 10th?) stage that I don't have. It was a sort of vertical gazebo looking thing, that you could walk through, but also stand on top of. wtf was that?

are you refering to a "stage of the day"? because my question is, how do you recieve one from nintendo. i was under the impression that you'd get a wiimail (like they do with mario galaxy for the lugi stars) saying "blah blah blah new stage blah blah blah enjoy <3Ninty XOXOXOXO" but i havent.

i havent played any online matches yet (and lord knows i've tried.. its like Strikers all over again) so i'm not sure if it comes up on those menus or not. Is it something i have to look for or will it be obvious?

There's an options screen for WiFi stuff, one option lets you pick whether or not Nintendo can use your WiFi matches to send to people for spectator mode, the second lets you pick whether or not Nintendo will send you stuff. Make sure the second one is on and the game will automatically download them every day and they'll show up with your other Stage Builder stages. I've played on yesterday's and today's stages, both apparently originating in Japan based on their names, and I liked both of them. They were simple but they were fun, and I think it's a great feature.

oh ok. That explains it, i turned the features on but never checked out the stage builder itself. I did however play in a sample stage when i chose random, that one was plain but really cool. I'll have to check out these submitted stages and get my butt in gear to make some awesome stages myself!

So how does the custom stage stuff work??  Do I risk loosing the relatively good example stages by turning on the "send me a stage a day" option?

I seem to have already got a NWR stage that I don't remember asking for.

There's a slot that gets filled by the stage per day, and it gets written over every time a new stage comes.

How do you put spaces in stage titles and descriptions? D:

I recreated Hyrule Castle from the original Smash Bros.  It's too bad the stage editor doesn't have more options relating to visual aesthetic.  I've only unlocked one of the additional piece sets, though, so maybe it'll improve once I have all the pieces.

Yeah . . . the whole unlocking thing for stage builder parts?

*SPOILER ALRERT*

Is crap.

Enjoy getting around 4 extra parts total.

Oh and looking for more backgrounds? Yeah there is only 3.

Another mode made of extreme fail. Great concept, terrible execution.

Oh come on, your being rather crazy.  At least we got it this time, I mean having a stage builder and 41 total stages is a large step from 29 un-changable stages in Melee.  I understand that there are problems with Brawl at this point, but it is a large step from what we had, and despite it not being everything you expected to be, we got it and your additional demand seems rather zealous.  I know it is demand what makes action, but we gotta call it a day sometime.

I'm upset because this game was delayed so heavily and yet it is still so lacking.

My whole philosophy was that Nintendo was taking their time to get everything right for arguably their biggest traditional game for the Wii.

I have complimented the stages this time around though Obi-Kanobi, just saying the Stage Builder and it's "unlockable" content is garbage.

From a design stand point of seeing what was in the SSE (many diverse settings with many diverse "blocks" so to speak that made up each area) I was expecting to see a lot of that in the stage builder. The elements are there so why not include them in the stage building tools?

It just wreaks of incompleteness. So much potential.

Okay, that's nice...

I have a couple stages that I'm rather fond of...

1)  Someone posted a Phantos pot in the original "Stage Builder" thread, so I took that design, put falling blocks and a gazebo at the bottom, and ladders on either side so you have a chance of survival if you fall prey to the falling blocks...
2)  I tried to make a castle-like stage that has a half-open drawbridge that leads into a rather odd assortment of stairs and floating platforms, with a "moat" full of spikes that leads into an "underground" area that leads underneath the castle...
3)  A pirate ship!  Yeah, I know it's kind of redundant, but my pirate ship has two levels...The top level has two ladders leading up a series of platforms to the crow's nest at the top, while the second level (the bottom of the ship) is a nice row of falling blocks (man I love falling blocks)...

It's pretty hard to describe stages with words, so I'll try and get some pictures up sometime soon...

I'm not saying don't talk about it, I'm saying your probably never gonna be happy if a lot of the new stuff isn't up to par with what you were expecting.  Your probably suffering from over hype.

Personally I'm happy with new stuff, it means it'll be in the next one and the next one after that.   I know they could have had it that good this time, but they didn't, but I'm satisfied.  If it is this crappy next time, I'll be annoyed.

I like the stage builder a lot.  I get a kick out of watching CPU players try to fight on my vile creations.  I've got one stage where for some reason they all try to fight it out on one little vertically moving platform.  Hilarity ensues.

They don't seem to handle my Missingno inspired stage well, either.

One feature that I really don't understand the downgrade is target test. The stage builder on the other hand, while limited, appears quite flexible so I have no problem with it.

I'm sorry that I have just been negative about the game up and down. Maybe it's because I am getting older but . . . think of it this way:

If we get a smash game every generation (for argument sake) let's say the next one comes out in another 6 years as this was the gap from Melee to Brawl. I am going to be 29 years old . . . I don't feel like waiting my ENTIRE LIFE just to get a mode that is up to snuff with what should have been this time around.

Yeah I know it sounds weird but I am tired of waiting for the next incarnation of a game just to get what I want.
