Oh, well I hope Nintendo goes pass-thru port tech in the Wiimote 2.0.
Would make the peripherals much better to have real buttons that don't have to rely on springs and plastic levers to reach the wiimote.

Actually, it already exists, but most shells are cheaply produced by no-name Chinese manufacturers such that the parts are all-plastic or maybe have a few metallic screws.  What they need to be are Classic Controllers, like the Guitar Hero shells.  But we know god damned Activision initially charged $50 for these things, and making shells with this functionality easily adds $10-15 to the cost of a simple $5-$10 plastic cover.

Problem is, no one's dared to make an sincere gun shell that combines a decent physical design with the button functionality.  They feel it's cheaper to not try so hard, just offering the bare minimum; there's no ambition to be "the" success in this niche market.

Motion controls (tilt and swivel) still work while in classic control mode right?

So you could make a gun the uses the wiimote tilt and aim with pass thru on all the wiimote buttons? because I wasn't aware that you could do that on the current Wiimotes.

Guitar Hero has a "lightning" score booster that's triggered by tilting the guitar upright, so that's my only proof the functions coexist.

Other than that, Remote tilt has zero bearing on all these gun games, which all rely exclusively on IR tracking.  Once in a while, there's something to waggle.

If pass through worked and was supported by Nintendo, then some of these gun games (with actual gun attachments) could be off the hook.

Specialized(read: functional) gun attachments would breath life into the stale on rails and  FPS genre and finally bring that arcade feeling home inexpensively.

spring loaded clips that replace the + button reload, real quality triggers to replace the b button. Built in joystick somewhere that is physically comfortable, maybe some added rumble or kick-back for added simulation realism. All the other buttons put somewhere that make sense and within your natural grip. And all that with it's own rechargeable battery so that you don't drain your wiimote in 30minutes or less.

But that's definite asking for far too much.

I'm perfectly happy with my Perfect Shot.  All I'd like is some force feedback, because it feels kind of empty unloading a Submachine Gun on a creature in Darkside Chronicles without feeling any vibration in my "gun".   Heh, turns out sometime in the past (probably while playing some Wii game that didn't use it particularly well) I turned the Rumble in the Wiimote off.  Well, that's fixed now.

In many ways, it's true.  Most of these games are afterthoughts of the Wii's IR function.  Whereas all these plastic things are afterthoughts of the physical Zapper.  What we're not seeing is a major coordination between a peripheral design and a game design closer to the level of "Guitar Hero."  The best we're seeing are generic hunting games bundled with an ORANGE but still perfectly functional shotgun shell.  No one's made a good EXAMPLE to trigger the right copycats.

But in this Wii bizness, there probably isn't such a thing as a good copycat.

Still expensive for something that's only good for in-game pistols.  And as far as lightgun experiences go, the pistol is overdone and the least exciting.

My Wii Remote can be a pistol, an assault rifle, a steering wheel, a flashlight, and a sword.

Vudu hates value.

I saw a silly-looking remote gun shell that was RE-branded, to be used specifically with the RE games like Umbrella/Darkside Chronicles, and RE4: Wii Edition. I almost bought it for kitch, but it was like $25 so I didn't bother. Looked like a sawed-off shotgun.

I got one of those.  It's a nice, well made product.  Recommended if you like Light Gun Games.  I paid $40 for mine.

Probably not.  This looks to be the same controller.  You can clearly see that it's just a GameCube input on the end of that cord.  Sorry!

the other one was monoprice branded and didn't show the end of the cord, so I wasn't sure if they came up with something new or not.

Seems unlikely.  From what we can see the two seem to be identical except for the color of the buttons.
