Is the forum calendar suffering from a case of Y2K10?

There is nothing listed for January even though tomorrow is the last day of the year!!?

Are the forums gonna stop working? should I withdraw all my post(from the ATM) till the issue is resolved? DO we need major compliance upgrades before Y2K10 hits? Why is no one else panicking!?

Which calendar? When I click on "Calendar" above the thread, I see Jan. and Feb. 2010, and can post events.

Yeah. That's a different spot than where I usually see it.

it used to be at the bottom of the page, right of above Forum Stats, and showed upcoming events and b-days.

Now it shows no b-days and I don't think vudu has input any big game releases yet.

I visited the front page a few times recently (news submission) and noticed that there is a side column where the last 8 Blog Post are listed. I also noticed that there is a lot of empty space below those Blog entries.

I was thinking that maybe you guys could put up a 5 Hot Forum Topics list below that and feature some of the more popular topics of the day.

edit: And how about a "Submit News" link added to that top bar in the forums?
you know the one with "Home", "Help", "Profile" and "Help" on it.

Maybe have an ability for forum members with a certain posting frequency, basically that they've posted even semi-regularly, to vote up some threads, while also having a "Hot-Topic" and "Staff Picks" section?

This came up in the Metroid:Other M topic. Kytim was starting to play Super Metroid. He was having some problems with the game and this type of question would be covered in the Gameplay help section. What I am asking is about a retro forum that covers games from last gen to the start of games. Yes I know we have RetroActives but what if someone wanted to to talk about any retro game with out having to be restricted on what game we play.

Is there interest in this sort of thing?

I too am curious about how we should direct these types of threads/conversations. I'm not sure if a new board or child board would best apply in the this situation though. Are there any other ideas/thoughts people could have about this?

and Amazing deals are always at the top of the list in Nintendo console discussion, im guessing they're stickied, but either way the make the board static in discussion. Could they get their own section? Deals and Releases?

It does cramp the first page of the board. Though it does seem like over doing it to give them their own child board.

THey are clearly stickied in FireFox (pins stuck in them and a darker shade than teh other threads) with a core setting, so I usually skip right over them without even noticing them. But Occasionaly check to see if there are new post in Amazing Deals.

I like how pics are automatically resized to fit the forum, but are basically large thumbnails as you can click them to get the regular size. That's nice new feature.
