I believe there will be 40 characters. I do not know who all the hidden characters will be but I will list people I hope to see.

Wind Waker Tetra...I would actually prefer Tetra to Wind Waker Link if I had to choose.

The reason I mentioned K.Rool is because Brawl looks to have a wider selection of villains this time around. Mario and Peach have Bowser. Link and Zelda have Ganondorf and Kirby has both Dedede and Metaknight (I know Meta loves to switch sides).

Now that DK has his sidekick Diddy Kong its only natural that they gave him his nemesis.

Like its been mentioned K.Rool has many moves Sakurai can use. Hell, they even have boxing K. Rool from DK 64!

EDIT: One thing I find interesting about DK and K.Rool is that their hatred and rivalry is a metaphor towards the theory of evolution and the existence of mammals and reptiles.

The kong family consists of gorillas, apes and monkeys. They are mammals and supposedly played a big part in human's evolution. They have also shown signs of intelligence and human like behavior.

The kremlin clan consists of crocodiles and lizards. They are cold blooded and many of them became extinct when the Dinosaurs died out.

Its like their hatred is fueled by the order of nature! XD

Fox is a, well, fox, Falco is a blue bird, Peppy's a hare and Slippy's a frog. The fox is easily their natural enemy. Fox, however, takes orders from General Pepper, a hound dog. Starfox is racist! Aside from being in my top 3 games of all time I noticed Falco is racist. Thats right, I said it! Remember that Asteroid level, the second stage in 64? get to the boss and you beat him half way, the ape inside goes "...im no match for you" and Falco goes "You gonna listen to that monkey!?" He said it in a horrible context!

Also once you reach Venom, they all fly down to the planet.... hmmm either that or Area 6(is that what its called?) You here falco go, "time to show the monkeys whos boss" To me thats being racist, and teaches an aweful lesson to kids. Not to me though im a smart kid, and became really open minded when everyone went nuts over Wind Waker.

Anyway im glad a few of you believe Ridley will be in the final roster. Now that Olimar has grown(I know Kirby has to, but most people arent really aware or care about how small he is) And Bowser has gotten alot bigger as well, I don't see how Ridley would unthinkable because of his size. All I need is him and Sonic. And my dream characters are done!

And come on Tookisuit, Wind Waker Link would be so much more awesome than just typical young Link. The moveset alone would be killer. He will look just as drasticly different like Mr Game & Watch, and thats cool, all kinds of veriety. The same as using a super detailed realistic looking character like Snake or Shiek on a stage like classic Mario Bros. Let the worlds mesh together!

I can't really make up a final roster, mainly cause I know something like Game & Watch will pop up and I will be absolutely clueless as to where he came from.

But I am betting on Ridley, and Dixie as secret characters.

Deku Link was confirmed as a sticker in the latest update!

There are so many Zelda characters and variants that would be great fighters, that I feel the Zelda series needs its own fighting game. Something halfway between Soul Caliber and Smash.

I think Wind Waker Link could only work if not rendered in the Wind Waker style. I can't imagine a cell-shaded mixing in with the other characters well.

I should say that WW is my favorite Zelda game ever.

I don't see how he would fit any less than the 2-dimensional Mr Game & Watch does, or the realistic Snake for that matter...

Now that I see that flash demo I remembered about Dr. Kawashima.

He might be the biggest wild card in the entire roster, as in Sakurai is sane enough to leave him out of the game or insane enough to make him the most powerful floating head in the universe.

The reason is because he is listed on both Sakurai's list and on the most requested characters list. People must want him because he has 2 votes on that list. Not only that, the Brain age theme song plays on the Pictochat stage.

Its more than likely that he will NOT be in the game in any form, but considering the game lacks that WTF character like Game and Watch was in Melee don't be surprised if either Kawashima or Sukapon end up being a character in the game.

That little guy is just too dang cute. Plus, he could easily have a moveset something like...

B: Chibi blaster
Forward+B: Smash with toothbrush
Down+B: Dances, which could do something to other players (like Jiggly's singing) OR plug cord into ground to regain a little energy.
Up+B: Helicopter, of course, that damages anyone above it.
Grab/Tether recovery - shoot out cord (like Link's hookshot)

Final Smash - Sandersons enter the scene and trample everybody. OR Chibi puts on his Drake RedCrest suit and powers up OR Sarge and the rest of the Free Rangers charge through the scene, damaging everyone in their way.

There are so many cool things they could do, but I just know it won't happen. I can always dream, though!

The sad part is that ANY character can be made into an SSB character if you put a lot of thought and planning into them.

Time to play around with some more speculation...If the 35 character roster on GAF turns out to be de facto (leaving 12 characters to know, none being 3rd party supposedly), here's what I believe is likely...

Mr. Game & Watch - Following the franchise icons on the Dojo, a single icon is missing right in the middle of the other known Melee ones...Not too hard to figure out...
Luigi - Another no-brainer...There's no need to argue his existence...
Ganondorf - Aonuma talked about how his team sent in Sheik and Ganondorf models, and with the emphasis on villains I don't see him being pulled...
Captain Falcon - Red Alloy...Plus I don't see them yanking a franchise altogether...
Jigglypuff - The guy who does Snake's voice-acting mentioned her in an interview...Iffy evidence, but enough...
Ness - Lucas stealing his moves puts his spot in jeopardy...However, it could be that they will replace his attacks with an all-new move set
Marth - The icon of the Fire Emblem series...With his remake incoming, his place could have been fortified...
Mewtwo - While an icon in prior Pokemon games, his place may have been usurped by a new Pokemon...We shall see...

That is 8 likely vets, leaving at least 4 newcomers...The most likely candidates:

Wind Waker Link - With his popularity and increased presence due to being in Phantom Hourglass, he makes a strong choice as a newcomer...
Krystal - Holding a high place in Sakurai's poll, she could easily stand to replace Falco...
Lucario - Incredibly popular in the Pokemon world, Lucario has the "aura" of being a Brawl participant, as well as the move set and popularity...
Geno - Another super-popular character in polls, Geno would also fill in a missing "3rd party" block, even though Sakurai claims he thinks him as 1st party...
Ridley - High-ranking in polls, it seems just as likely that Ridley could be given "Boss" status in the SSE as he is to be a playable character...
AC Villager - The Animal Crossing stage is already in place, and with the AC franchise being one of, if not the, biggest Nintendo seller in Japan, it seems strange for there not to be a representative...

Oh, but of course, there is the Dojo icon issue to go back to...According to the Dojo, unless they mistakenly passed over a number, there is still another franchise to be revealed...The characters above all fit into known Brawl franchises, so what's left?

Isaac - Golden Sun? Sakurai mentioned the series on multiple occasions, and I believe Isaac's Psynergy could provide a unique move set...
Lip - Panel de Pon? Lip's Stick returning as an item appears to dampen her chances, but there is the Screw Attack item, after-all...
Takamaru - Nazo no Murasame? The one thing that hurts his chances is that he's not only from a unknown franchise, but he's fairly generic as a character as well...Hmmm...
Ray MKII - Custom Robo? I recall being surprised that he was not in Melee, with him being a unique character (a robot!) and having an excellent working move set...
Sukapon - Joy Mech Fight? Another unknown franchise, Sukapon has the benefit of actually being a unique character and being from a fighting game himself...
???Other??? - There is always also the possibility of something completely random! =)

Just my thoughts...Feel free to argue or comment on this fun speculation...
