"No. Pokemon is a 'take with you' kind of game. It lends itself to short bursts of play and long play sessions. Keep it handheld and I wont mind. More Pokemon Snap is required lest Nintendo wishes for HAL to disappear suddenly."
F*ck this. With online play trading and the whole social element of the game can be recreated from your home. And if it somehow doesn't feel right to you the handhelds are still being made so just stick to them and let the rest of us get what we want. Nintendo should have made a 3D Pokemon RPG on the N64 and here we are two consoles later still waiting.
The thing is Nintendo already does make console Pokemon games and has even technically made a 3D Pokemon RPG, only it has that little problem of sucking ass. So they're already making impure games that lack the "take it with you" factor. They're going to make those games anyway so they might as well make them right. Now if they just ditched Pokemon console games altogther I probably wouldn't care. The half-assed, easy-buck, incomplete, corporate product nature of those games is what really bothers me. The whole thing is a tease and a con. That's why I want a good 3D Pokemon RPG because they f*cking OWE us one after all the crap they've released.
Pokemon Snap and Stadium were easier to tolerate when they came across as stop-gaps to tide the fans over and keep Pokemania rolling until the real deal was to be released. In retrospect they come across as intentional rip-offs.
