Based on the most current sales figures, if the Wii stopped selling today (lolyahrite), how many units PS3 units would Sony have to sell per year in order to have 44% of the market and how many 360 units would Microsoft have to sell in order to have 40% of the market by the year 2011?<BR><BR>Why is this in das Funhaus? Now, I know this is using made up VGChartz.com numbers and all... but I bet the PS3 really could sell an average of 43.6 Million units per year between now and 12/31/2011. That's only about five time it's current average. After all, the PS3 has been picking up steam these last couple of months.

That's only twice it's current lifetime sales per year for 3 years, that's certainly possible.

The Wii isn't going to stop selling until Michael Pachter has confidence in its long term sales, that's when we should worry.

Wow. are they serious?after 5 years on the market. Kinect is gonna push Xbox 360 to more than quadruple it's current sales in the market?
and Move is gonna push PS3 to quintuple it's current sales after the 4 years it's already been on the market?

they really need to start packaging up whatever they are smoking over there and start selling it to the general public.

The percentage went down ever so slightly since last time. I guess this means the Wii isn't going to sell more than PS3 and XBox 360 combined. Wii is a failure, Nintendo is doomed!

Also, early impressions of Move indicate it does not work very well. If that is indeed the case, it isn't going to sell much better than the item you described in the new topic title...

Sony's got 200+ days to do it. It's not too late. If I was the ~~idiot~~ genius that made this prediction, I'd totally go out and buy a ****-ton of PS3s just to prove myself right.

I don't know exactly how this works, but apparently Sony only needs to sell a negative 300,000 units per year to meet the goal of a 44% market share by the end of 2011.
