Good videogames stores in Manhattan
« on: November 15, 2007, 10:33:44 AM »
Hey guys,

On Monday, I will go on my usual trip to NYC (this time, to see the wonderful Vanessa Carlton on tour).
I also wanna look into the used videogames shops in Manhattan.
Can anyone suggest me any good shop to check out?
I'm looking for retro-games essentially (mostly SNES and PSOne) but all suggestions are welcome!
Thanks!

to be honest i dont know any in manhattan that would have any snes games. then again i dont go to too many hobby stores where they would have them, and the ones i've been in never have video games.

i've seen a few places in the bronx, brookly and queens that sometimes have a couple of snes games, as well as n64 (probably ps1, i dont bother looking) but none in manhattan. Your best bet would be to stop by any of those really small electronic stores that have a ton of sh*t in their windows and have no walking space.. the ones that just have one reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally long displace case and a ton of stuff on the well. thats the type of place that usually has older used games, so try your luck at that. Also, avoid any of those stores that are in or close to the big tourist hot spots since they most likely WONT have old games (old there would be ps2 and gc).

good luck!

You're best off looking for a giant flea market somewhere else at some other time.  I don't know about anywhere else, but I know in Florida there's a place called Waldo that's famous for  its flea market and its speed trap.  If I were seriously searching for any SNES or N64 games, that's one of the first places I'd look.  In fact, I found Mischief Makers there a year or two ago.

Also, I'd try to find a phone book or something, and call all the possible retailers you can find in the yellow pages that would possibly have what you're looking for.  That might work, might not.

Thanks anyway guys.
There must be some stores like the ones in Akihabara that sells old stuff in NYC. Okay, not as huge as the ones in Akiba but still...
I'll guess I'll just try the phone book idea.
