We're finally back with a normal episode, guys! On this episode, we've got a lot to discuss, from impressions on the latest games (Thrillville: Off the Rails!) to the hottest topics (Florida sauce Vs. Oregon sauce). Some real Class-A material.

No, but really, there's some serious meat to this one. We get down and dirty with the possibility of a Programmers' Strike, the internet phenomenon Surfer Girl, and wrap it all up with a retrospective on the Lil' Plumber That Could, Mario himself.

See ya next week, folks!

Hating on Beyond Good and Evil and Paper Mario? KARL'S LACK OF KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM MAKES ME ANGRY

I've never heard of either of these "pink sauces" Unless you're talking about fry sauce, like they have at Zips.

Another factual inaccuracy: Super Mario Bros. 3 did not have a battery.

Woah, I gotta listen to this, because Karl sounds like a great guy for hating on overrated games.
Carmine Red, Associate Editor

A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

Donkey Kong absolutely counts in terms of the history of Mario. You can't talk about history without including the very beginning.

I'm glad that I came across the arcade version years ago, because I spent a good hour with it, reveling in the nostalgia. Highly recommended.

Donkey Kong invented several components that are in almost every character based game today.

Platforms and jumping, real physics, A boss battle, and Story (as mentioned.) Possibly upgrading to a weapon and radically different progressive levels.

Sure it had a ton of physics. Donkey Kong threw barrels, they rolled down the ramps and dropped to the lower levels with a reasonable approximatation of gravity. Mario jumped and his momentum carried with him and you felt the jump for the first time in a game. (I think there was only one other game that had a jump in it before Donkey Kong, and it was stationary)

Also, the final* level had you pulling out support pins to pancake the structure Donkey Kong was standing on.

A programmer's union is a sticky subject. Even if you got the America's and western Europe on board, I'm sure the Japanese and other countries would hold out. Look at the auto industry. The big 3 in the United states have the United Auto Worker's union represented the workers, yet the Japanese big 3 don't have that concept. I'll leave at that, since this could get politicized really quick...

In Venezuela, there's pink sauce that's translated to "salsa rosada". Always good on hot dogs and Venezuelan style burgers...

My big turnoff concerning Alien Soldier was that its not co-op. Shmup with no 2 player? Blasphemy!

Sufer Girl: The next SpOnG? How/where is 'she' getting this info? Do we want to know?
