IGN's comment on their latest "Smash it up!" feature about more third parties joining the Brawl made me realize something.
A megaton update for me would be a completely unexpected third party joining the Brawl.
Capcom, Namco, Hudson and Square are pretty much in considering their relationship with Nintendo and the fact that fans want their characters in Brawl.
However, what other third parties are left? That's where the megaton updates lies...
Let's see, to me the surprising three would be...
- SNK: They are supporting Nintendo like crazy now, with Metal Slug Anthology being a launch title for the Wii, the Wii shop featuring Neo Geo games for sales, the DS games (including the infamous witch touching game) and the upcoming anthology games.
- Tecmo: Their support isn't as big as SNK's but its certainly there. Super Swing Golf was a launch title and a sequel is in the works, a Fatal Frame game was announced a while back (its done by Tecmo, right?), the Ninja Gaiden games are available on the VC and of course a Ninja Gaiden DS game is coming soon. I think they will either use Ryu Hayabusa or one of their Super Swing Golf games.
- Ubisoft: To be honest, the rumor about Ubi submitting four characters (Rayman, Jade, Sam Fisher and the Prince) for Brawl approval is so old that I think its not true. However, it would be very megaton if one morning we see Rayman's profile up along with a trailer featuring the Rabbids as assist trophies.
So in short, a surprising third party joining the brawl would be pretty megaton.
