Takahashi Brothers Talk Golden Sun Sequel
« on: October 17, 2007, 05:43:34 PM »
"Nintendo has asked us to please make it."
 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=14626

 In an interview with Game Informer, Shugo and Hiroyuki Takahashi, the brotherly duo in charge of developer Camelot Software Planning, explained that they are still very much interested in making another game in their studio's acclaimed handheld RPG series, Golden Sun.

"First of all, I love that game and I love the world of Golden Sun," said Hiroyuki Takahashi when asked about the series. "We think we have to make another one. We have to do it! Not just that we have to do it, but we want to do it. Nintendo has asked us to please make it."

So why haven't we seen it pop up on future release lists if Camelot is so eager to get it going?  "But at the same time we haven’t gotten around to making it," said Hiroyuki.  "We’re not really sure why."

His brother Shugo had a better reason.  "One of the reasons that we haven’t made Golden Sun is because there are so many fans of the game and we don’t want to do something half-assed. We want to give it the time it deserves."

As a final thought on the topic, Hiroyuki was asked if he'd like to see a new Golden Sun game on a handheld or on a console.  He said he'd like something that would combine both—"with the past and the future."  But, alas, "that's just a thought."

The rest of the interview deals with Camelot's involvement in golf games as of late, including We Love Golf for Capcom.  You can catch that here.

I personally think it has to be on the DS so it can link to the GBA 'back story.'  I know that's why I'm so excited for the sequel, I mean if it took two games to set that up, what's the sequel gonna be like? <drool>

If they made it for the Wii you could still link it to the first two, use the wireless link between the Wii and the DS which has the GBA game in Slot 2.

That doesn't sound like they're making a continuation of the GS story, just a game in the same world.

Moar like Golden Sun Park.  All the minigames loosely related to Golden Sun Characters and locales you could ever want.

Then there's Golden Sun Picnic, where you spend three hours keeping ants off of your food on a date with a generic anime-styled lolis.  This should be a smash hit in Bill.

And how about that Golden Sun Monsters?  You start with a Djinn, and collect monsters to fight with.  If they get strong enough, you can merge them together to forge other Djinn, Chimeras, and even spells!

I also am a fan of Golden Sun Farm+.  You build a town, then work for hours to make everyone on the farm extremely happy by doing all their work, buying flowers, and giving them free stuff.

But you may be going somewhere with this Golden Sun Karaoke.  I think Menu Theme A could be a smash hit.

"with the past and the future"? Hmm...

Naw, a DS game and a Wii game with a time gap in between would be too obvious. However, it would be fine too.

Past = GBA
Future = Wii

The DS has a GBA game slot and can communicate with the Wii... =)
