The new PW isn't a spin-off, it's the direction they are now heading with the main series!

And the rest of the stuff sounds like crap, really...A port, an old IP no one but the most hardcore of fighter fans cares about (SFIII is proof of that), and a new IP that sounds like more "hardcore punk" generic garbage...Woo...

The likelihood that SF4 will be Wii Exclusive is ZERO.

In fact the likelihood that SF4 will show up on the Wii is like 40% which makes me quite sad.

But to tell you the truth if they don't keep it 2D then I am not interested in the game.

Also, I hope they bring back the characters from their Alpha series, because I want to know what has happened with them.

Truthfully, I would have loved to see a game where Ryu, Ken are much older and are like the bosses of the game.

Then you have Sakuri as a young woman with her own destiny and you kinda see a story about what happened to the characters after M. Bison was defeated.

Create a new villian and keep it shrowded in Mystery and create a new anime/manga series that tells the story of this new evil coming to being and what it means the SF characters.

Yeah, I'm thinking that this SF4 won't be coming to the Wii at all personally... /sigh

Ooh, just saw the Bionic Commando trailer. I take back what I said before, this looks impressive!

The Street Fighter IV trailer was pretty cool. Bionic Commando was okay.

Ryu and Ken were older in Street fighter 3, and their story along with chun-li and goki were continued after bisons defeat. But, as excited as i am for the announcement, the oringal creator of the SF series was "let go" after third strike. This could very well be a capcom cash in, pushing the series to 3D, which would be horrible. And i'm not so sure only the hardcore care about 3rd strike, the anneversary edition sold decently well i thought.

Well at least this thread isn't saying SF4 will be crap without seeing a single screen shot like shoryuken.com is...

If SF4 is done at 480i then expect a port.
If it's done at 720p then no.

It really comes done to that.

But with the recent Capcom brouhaha over HD sprites for one of their Street Fighter ports... don't you anticipate the game to be HD?

SF4 will have to be 1080p if they want a PS3 version, it will have to be 720p if they want it on 360 and 480p if they want it on the Wii. If they want it on more than one console they'llhave to rescale the sprites. Hell, they'll have to anyway because most people only have a 480i TV.

My guess is the game will be stylized 3D similar to the trailer, but who knows?

I wonder if it would be practical to make the game with 2D vector graphics?
That's my opinion, not yours.

Considering that the Street Fighter franchise was moved to Capcom USA from Japan it doesn't surprise me that most people aren't expecting anything from it.  The last time they were allowed to touch the franchise resulted in Street Fighter The Movie the arcade game.  Then again with Okamoto gone they probably don't even care anymore and are using this as a quick cash grab.

Darknight it's funny you bring up Sf:The Movie.
Go over to shoryuken.com and look up the thread about it.

It has the lead designer of that project posting a lot, it'a very interesting read.
Capcom Japan is equally responsible for the crap known as Street Fighter: The Movie.

A big reason people at shoryuken are dissmissing SF4 is because of the HIGH probability that it will go straight to console, without an arcade release. That will mean many many things with the balancing could be terribly off. The other reason is that capcom of america is doing. And the reason I'm worried is because capcom let the original creator go because 2D games don't sell. Remember, his last interview has him saying that he wanted to add zangief and some other original characters into the next SF 3 instalment that would come AFTER third strike. His next move wasn't SF 4 but still SF 3, he hadn't perfected it yet. Moving to SF4 means something is up.

Why add Zangief to SF3 when Hugo and/or Alex do a pretty good job of recreating him?

As far as the Alpha series story is concerned, I think it is considered non-continuity or an alternate reality with the main SF->SFII->SFIII time line.

I would have loved for SFIV to have Sean or Mel completely replace Ken and have an old Ryu as a new super boss like Akuma.

They do not need to rescale the sprites; they can use down sampling which usually looks better in my opinion than native resolution (Up sampling on the other hand ...).

Downsampling gives you less control over what ends up where.

Wow, i'm suprised no one pointed out that Okami has been anounced as a Wii port!  I'm reserving judgement on Bionic Commando until I see some grappling hands-on reports (see what I did there).  Could go either way.  Capcom better do something different with SF4.  The series got stale after Super SF2.  What I really want to see if SF VS MK
