It appears Nintendo has updated their Super Smash Bros. Brawl page on their press site today.
Most of the information is already known, however, I have noticed two new pieces of information.

1. Despite the delay, the game has in fact been rated Teen by the ESRB, citing "Cartoon Violence,Crude Humor."

2.

Game storyline: In multiplayer games, characters from all Nintendo universes meet up in Nintendo locales to duke it out. In the solo mode called "The Subspace Emissary," the world of Smash Bros. is invaded by an entity called the Ancient Minister and his army of creatures, called "The Primid." Normally, characters come alive in the world of Smash Bros. to do battle, then turn back into trophies when defeated. However, the Ancient Minister starts turning characters into trophies to harness their power, then detonates bombs that suck pieces of the world back into his realm of Subspace. Eventually, all the characters must work together to defeat the invading creatures from Subspace - this is accomplished by playing through side-scrolling levels.

I bolded the new information.
So now we have a better idea of what the Subspace Emissary is up to.

I don't know how interesting this is to anyone, but I figured any sort of new information was worth posting.

Interesting.

And yeah, the T rating was expected as well. After all, all they do is mail a video to the ESRB and say "We think it's a T game."
"OK, first we need someone to complain about something trivial. Golden or S_B should do. Then we get someone to defend the game, like Bill or Mashiro. Finally add some Unclebob or Pro666 randomness and the thread should go to hell right away." -Pap64

So if you save them, they might become fully playable characters...Hmm.

In all seriousness, I do see the adventure mode as a way of unlocking characters, trophies and modes.

Give me a Nintendo press site login.  Then I'll confirm this information.

Or even better:
Username: guest
Password: nintendo

It's almost like they want the public to have access to their press site.

I've confirmed the press site sucks.

It's not what it used to be.  Not enough artwork.
