I'd have to check which ones of these actually come out in 2007 here. Maybe I'll get Metroid Prime 3 when it comes out.

By even considering deferring your Mario Galaxy purchase, you've moved way down on my "cool" list, ShyGuy

But seriously, your reasoning is sound enough, and financial planning is always important. Next year make it a point to invest in an ETF, though*.

So here's my priority list - Strikers and Corruption were previously on it, but I've gotten them both now.

Definites

1. Super Mario Galaxy - November 12
2. Super Smash Bros Brawl - December 3
3. (TIE) Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles - October / Ghost Squad - November 6 (will pick up best one, will rent other)
4. NiGHTS - November 13
5. Zack and Wiki - Fall 2007
6. BWii - October 29
7. FIFA 08

Honourable Mentions

- Dewy's Adventure - September 4 (probably missed the boat on this one)
- Soul Calibur Legends - November 6 (it's looking better but still unsure)
- Smackdown vs Raw 2008 (why not continue Day of Reckoning, THQ? Why??)
- Medal of Honour (token ShyGuy mention, but hurts badly that it comes out with SMG)

Not interested in personally, but deserve consideration

- DDR: Hottest Party (non-spinoff DDR game on a Nintendo console!)
- Guitar Hero III (first Guitar Hero game on a Nintendo console!)
- Dragon Ball Z 3 (online)
- Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 (hopefully fleshed out)
- Godzilla (token Arbok mention)

Unknown whether will come out in 2007

Trauma Centre (would be in my Top 8)
Dragon Quest Swords (probably won't pick this up, maybe a rental)

* The usual disclaimers

EDIT: I just realised that NiGHTS comes out right next to Galaxy, too. I may have to put that off to next year.

There's nowhere near enough love for Battalion Wars in this thread.

1. Super Mario Galaxy
2. SSB: Brawl
3. Battalion Wars 2
4. Star Trek: Conquest
5. Guitar Hero III
6. The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

And also maybe
MySims
MLB Power Pros
Zack & Wiki
Namco Museum Remix
The Simpsons Game
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
Medal of Honor Heroes 2
Geometry Wars: Galaxies
NiGHTS
Nitrobike
Mario & Sonic at the Olympics
Race Driver: Create & Race
Panzer Tactics
Front Mission
Chessmaster DS
Contra 4
Mario Party DS

Actually, looking at that list and seeing only 6 must-haves makes me more confident that I'll be in good shape this year. Also, Mass Effect is my 3rd-most anticipated game this year, but I don't think I'll be able to afford the 360 to play it on without obliterating the rest of the list.

Have you guys played Zack and Wiki?  I found it to be very frustrating.  If you like point and click figure-it-out games (like Myst), then get it.  I'm worried IGN's hype-machine is going to leave a lot of people feeling burned.

My fall list:

 -Mario Galaxy
 -SSB Brawl

The reason I want Zack and Wiki is because it's a point and click figure-it-out game.

I don't get how Mario Galaxy would ever be a maybe.  That's the one game this fall I HAVE to get.  Everything else takes a backseat.  I sure as hell wouldn't have Medal of Generic Army Shooter as a higher priority.  A f*cking EA GAME over a Mario platformer?  Aren't games like Mario Galaxy the whole reason to even own a Wii in the first place?  I kind of understand the "well that game will always be in stores" arguement but don't you WANT to play that game ASAP?  Do you think many Xbox 360 owners are all "well I guess I'll trim Halo 3 from my list and get it later"?  I don't know about you but I'm going to be anxious when Canada inevitably gets that game a day later and a whole bunch of Americans on these forums are already raving about it.

Super Mario Galaxy is an "it game".  You buy it on day one.

It's an it game that I'll see on the shelves two years down the line for full price still. It's an it game that I'm sure will sell a lot. And it's an it game both my younger brother and my roommate are buying. We've already got two TVs and two Wiis in the room. We don't need two copies of every game.

Ian and Golden Phoenix are both wrong once again, which breaks no record. I could give a "Part of being an adult is learning to delay enjoyment" speech, but I'll just say although MOHH2 is generic in appearance, it's unique in the fact that it is the first online FPS for the Wii.

Except for the fact that it still generic all around, including gameplay. Also why not delay playing Galaxy until 2050, that should make you the ultimate adult!

You sure prosletise Xbox 360 a lot for someone so concerned about generic; And isn't Australia getting Galaxy in 2050 anyway?

Yeah... I have about 28 DS and Wii games I've budgeting for, with about 16 "maybes," and all these on a spreadsheet with release dates, income, suggested retailers, netflix payments, and etc.

"I could give a 'Part of being an adult is learning to delay enjoyment' speech"

Part of being a single adult with no dependents is that you don't have to delay enjoyment because you've got MONEY.  The speech is just what you tell your kids because you can't afford to buy them whatever they want at a given time.  "Building character" is a similar excuse.  It's better for the child than saying "your hungry ass has made me broke".

I'm in my mid-20s and will probably be married in a couple of years and have kids within the next ten years or maybe even FIVE.  I'm going to get the "it games" f*cking now while I still can.
