Solid Snake shown off at TGS...
« on: September 20, 2007, 07:08:30 AM »
Konami did a special Metal Gear 20th anniversary presentation today.  They showed video footage of nearly every game in the series, including video and pics of Snakes in Brawl!

You can see pics of the presentation here.

All I want to say is...

1. If Snake's supposed to be a secret character why is Konami putting him on display everywhere? HUH? HUH? HUH?

2. Snake's profile will be revealed on the Brawl website tonight!

EDIT: In that last Brawl pic...DAMN is Snake having a massive wedgie!

EDIT 2: That last pic also confirms the return of the Homerun Bat and Mr. Saturn.

What is he hanging from in the next to last picture, and what's wrong with his leg?

They also appear to be standing on rooftops in Delfino Plaza. Nice that the moving platform is going to be stopping in places with more diverse terrain than just flat platforms.

I still have yet to see a link to where Sakurai said Snake would be an unlockable character.

EDIT: Home run bat confirmed. Mr. Saturn confirmed.

A friend of mine says it could be a CYPHER, a small, flying security bot from MGS 2. Either that's one of Snake's attacks or his entrance.

All I can guess is that because third party characters are unique in the fact that they are third party, Sakurai may choose to reveal them all before the game is released (or not)...And as I pointed out in a previous topic, he did say that BECAUSE they are guest characters that they will probably be unlockable... =)

Supposedly reports are saying that "Snake hovers in before battle" on it, so it APPEARS as if the intros from the first game are back!

Wait, does that mean the custom entrances are back? That would be awesome.

I suspect there is a theoretical maximum amount of safe exposure, yes.

Well, like Bill I distinctly remember Sakurai saying in an interview that you would have to unlock Snake, but I cannot remember where the interview is. Besides this is Kojima showing off his character in the game, not Sakurai. There may be some sort of agreement that we are unaware of.

Maybe, but I would not be surprised either way.

That is awesome news on both counts, but why would two earthbound related weapons be revealed(kind of, I mean there was not any evidence that they would not be back) with Snake?

If the reports are correct then my week has been made. The removal of the intros in Melee was my biggest cosmetic gripe (along with the removal of the cool little "ending" images for beating single player mode in SSB) with the game.

I too would LOVE to see character intros return. I miss those from the first one.

It almost makes TOO much sense this time around, because I assume Pokemon Trainer will toss out his first Pokemon (Squirtle) at the beginning of the match...

Yeah, the intros were small details that added a lot to the characters.

Not really surprised since, again, Halo 3 next week. Nintendo should have just unleashed Sonic while they were at it.
