I looked up those same pictures before posting to make sure my memory wasn't wrong.  There are some obvious differences in the interface alone that make it easy to tell them apart, even if you don't agree that the N64 version is a lot uglier.

Seriously. I'm pretty sure those graphics could have been done on Game Boy Advance.

Nah, Midway tried a Crus'in game on GBA years ago, it was certainly 8.3% worse looking than this game. It was like driving around a Wolf 3D level.

Well I did enjoy Cruisn USA, then again that is thinking back to a time where we were happy to get any game for N64.

Crusi'n USA is a horrible game that may create a compulsion to complete the game, but not because your enjoying it.  I think Sega Rally was the same way...

Disclaimer: Shecky played enough Crusi'n to unlock all of the cars, jeep, busses, police cars....   I remember it getting repetitive, the controls being on par with pole position, and generally several other reasons I should hate it.

Maybe thatguy liked it because he never finishes games?

Cruis'n World was awesome, but based on the effort they've put into the graphics, there's no reason to expect any more effort in the gameplay area.

The only problem I see is the lack of anti-aliasing (which is always present on all screenshots). It doesn't look THAT bad. I have to see how it looks in motion and how it plays before making a judgment, but I was honestly expecting worse after reading the reactions.

I played Cruis'n USA quite a bit.  I liked the sirens.  I played Cruis'n World because I liked to flip over other cars.  I played USA more than World, but let's be honest, when USA came out, how much else was on the 64?

Man this game ugly, and it's not even pretty in a Dreamcast or N64 sense.  (Beetle Adventure Racing is top dawg here)

But the pixelation we see is actually a poorly transfered video frame cap.  They effectively have a 320x240 screen blown up to 2x the size with standard pixel multiplication.

It's because I work for Midway, I used my trusty 1999 version of Paintshop. Who needs money when we got feathers!

I like the pole position style of controls over the super touchy modern style.

You're kidding, right? These screens look 100% like PS1 screens.

Oh wait, no they don't. BECAUSE PS1 GAMES LOOK BETTER.

I'm sorry, but while I agree that the game is not a looker so far it could be a very early product. For me the real test lies in motion; if the game runs at 20 FPS with jaggies and pixelated effects galore then yeah this is the ugliest Wii game yet.

An early product that is supposed to come out in November, I don't see it improving much at all. Like others have said though, when it compares to a PS1 game in visual quality you have problems.

There is definitely no excuse for a game to be this ugly. If I was Midway I would be embarrassed. Plus we know the game play is going to suck as well considering it's a Cruis'n game.

Maybe it's a stylistic choice... trying to recreate the look and feel of the 1990's arcade games... ported to the Sega Saturn...

Seriously, though. Why do I see pixels in that image? In photoshop, I was able to shrink it down to 50% size, then stretch it back out, and it looked almost exactly the same. Maybe these are just really small screenshots that were literally blown out of proportion?

I heard that these are actually blown up screen captures of bad web-sized video?

I thought this was going to be another stupid, whiny "Deez graphx SUXORZ" thread without much justification, but that game is pug-ugly.  I await more shots before final judgement, but wow.
That's my opinion, not yours.
