YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The one thing I absolutely wanted and it's almost exactly how I envisioned it being employed (using a grid to place various pieces). What a great update...

This is incredible!!!

Now all they need to do is add a "create a fighter" mode and we shall be set for life!

Not just build a stage but share a stage w/ friends and submit them directly to Nintendo
Quote

And a stage selected from the entire daily collection will be sent from Nintendo to your Wii. A stage made by someone else will come to you over the Internet once per day!

DUN DUN DUNNNNNN! That’s the shocking truth. This means you’ll be able to experience a new stage every day—the flavor of the day, if you will.

Now stage building will also be part of the competition.

They're showing Cube controls, but I imagine the pointer would be much more intuitive. Also, there's a nifty "Test" button

AND.. has the Mother - Snowman music been revealed before?

EDIT: Do you guys remember, a while back, Sakurai had a post where he blurred out one of the buttons? Well, I remember it being pink, and looking suspiciously like the "Submit" button in this update. But I can't figure out which update it's from..

I thought at first it was from the Snapshots update, but the "Submit" isn't blurred in that one (anymore?). Was it the one, or has Sakurai used some revisionist theory?

We were wondering how he'd top the Sonic reveal. This is exactly how to top the Sonic reveal. I didn't envision this. That he topped Sonic so soon surprises me. The question, then, is how can he top this?

Create a fighter mode. Using your Mii data you create a fighter by modifying (sp?) everything from looks to attacks. Save it on an SD card, send it to friends and Nintendo for character competions.

Its the next logical step, really.

And Icecold it was the snapshot feature. He confirms it on today's update.

Wow this is a surprising update, I'm interested in seeing how much depth this mode has in what you build with. Regardless looks like Sakurai jabbed Sony and Little Big Planet in the eye with a screwdriver.

The game will be hard enough to balance as is...

Personally, I don't want players to be able to create their own move sets for characters. I'm fine with Miis, and having people design the look of the fighter... but the moves should be locked, or have only cosmetic differences between attacks.

It ain't that bad, though. The characters' moves would be based around the game's rules and the moves would be based on the character type you choose (ie. heavy=powerful but slow attacks, light=weak but effective and such).

I guess they can create a moveset and you just customize the look but that would be boring.

OOF!  Unbelievable...

These music tracks have also been added to the growing list:

Donkey Kong Country 2 (GBA) - Bramble Blast (This is a renamed Stickerbrush Symphony)

This is easily one of the greatest announcements thus far. I was hoping this would see a release in this game and here it is. Making and sharing your own stages for Smash is probably the greatest feature ever.

Clearly Sakurai is desperate and shunting level design responsibilities for the blindly loyal fan community to deal with themselves, under the guise of yet another crappy online feature. And yet! And yet, everybody's eating it up, and asking for more.

Very well. While you all frolic in your communal mud, I shall keep my honor, and my dignity, and my head held high, and I shall salvage what I can of this broken, incomplete abortion of a game. But I seethe inside, and I rage... alone.

Seriously I know what you mean, the level editor will only have moving backgrounds that you can add on to a simple platform stage, isnt that what Brawl is about lol?

Wow, this is fantastic.  Never in a million years did I even think about this option.  I mean it is such a simple idea, and pretty easy to impliment, but it just never came to me.

But what is truly fantastic is not the ability to create levels, but the community that is created around this service, that is what makes this truly Nintendo.  Daily (most likely more like weekly) Nintendo chosen levels sent to your Wii to play.  Building and sharing with your friends, and being able to create custom tournament levels for your friends to play.  (I will be making so many different kinds of levels.

The series of levels I want to see someone make though is all 4 Donkey Kong levels.

Ok, I figured out what the next big update and Megaton will be.  There is literally only one update that I personally believe can top this level updater.

1)SD card Character Updates.  Nintendo can send updates to the game that will include brand new characters that you can play from your SD card, so that you don't have to worry about space on the Wii.

This way new characters could be added to the game every month or so, or old characters that may need a bit of tweaking can be balanced.

Also, if you’ve finished registering someone as both a Wii Friend and a Smash friend, you’ll be able to send custom stages to each other.

I'm looking at this and there are a few things I like to know.

  1. Can we save the daily stage if we like it?
  2. Can we create multistage stages?
  3. Can we do scripting/triggers of any sort?
  4. Is there a possibility of using are own pictures as backgrounds?
  5. Is the music selection strictly whats already in Brawl?
  6. Will there be updates for the issues this will most likely bring up?
  7. Are we stuck with Battle Stages or could we make Break the Target and like?

Those are just a few things I like to know.  I really hate to get a level I truly enjoyed and only be able to use it for one day.

This is a perfect way to implement MP3s on the SD card for in-game music.

This feature has taken a game with near-infinite replay value and infinitely expanded it. At the risk of sounding like a schoolyard argument, Brawl's replay value is now infinity squared.

I'd bet we will be able to save the daily stage.
Doubtful on scripting triggers.
Personal pictures as backgrounds is very possible, especially with the Wii photo channel so easily available.
Good question on the music selection, I'm starting to think MP3s will be able to be used.
Updates seem to be possible but unlikely because of Nintendo's constant dismissal of the benefit of HDD use.
I'm guessing this will be limited to battle stages.

Who knows with anything though, Sakurai is pulling the craziest sh!t with this game. I'm guessing this is going to be the last Smash for a VERY LONG TIME. He is going to be cramming every bit of awesomeness possible into this game, so like I said anything is possible.
