I love that picture of Snake about to silent kill Ike.  It just makes me laugh.  In a MGS game, it's cool.  In SSBB, it's downright hilarious!!

Cypher isn't an intro animation, worst update ever!

This makes me very, very, very sad, but there is still a chance that the intros will return.

This update also inadvertently confirmed shielding, so that is also cool.

Like I said, that makes sense for characters that have yet to be revealed but Snake was already shown off.

I suspect that third party characters will be revealed and shown off even if they are unlockable for promotion's sake.

Speaking about My Music, I wonder if they will do some version of "The Best is Yet to Come", which is my favorite piece of Metal Gear music, even though I do not see it fitting into a fighting game

Yes and no. On one hand, why advertise a PS3 game that will likely make it to 360 and NOT Wii... EVER? Then again, we have MGS2 Snake. It's like they're flat-out trying to point out that Snake has been seen on other consoles more. You'd think we'd get the Twin Snakes version because Miyamoto had to give Konami a kidney, lung, and Silicon Knights to get Metal Gear on Nintendo hardware.

So how late did Japan Tiem turn out to be last night? Either way, this was one hell of an epic update, so it was totally worth it. But this music makes me wish even more that it was orchestrated.

Methinks, on the music, that the Smash Team went to Konami said that they needed music for Snake and these are the requirements.  Since MGS4 is what they are currently working on, read easiest to adapt and benefit most from the extra exposure, they were like here you go.

that music, I can't tell if its orchestrated or not!

Its damn depressing Metal Gear has a better arrangement than Zelda music...

The Metal Gear music is indeed fully orchestrated.  The big violin part is a dead giveaway because MIDI are unable to create a sound like that.  Now really high quality MIDI like that used in Wind Waker have come very close but anyone that's heard a real violin can tell the difference.

Of course this also shows that Smash Bros Brawl will have music that is orchestrated after all.  Even if it's just the Metal Gear music, no one can complain there isn't any orchestrated music in this game anymore.  All the people that don't like MIDI can just play all there matches in the Metal Gear level where the music will be orchestrated.  There, now everyone can be happy.

It's MIDI. How you can possibly confuse that travesty with orchestration, I don't know.

QFT It is very easy to point that out.  It is high end quality midi but no sadly its midi.

Arg! I thought we were finished with the whole MIDI discussion.

If you think that beautiful track was a travesty Dirk, then you must do all of your music listening off of studio masters or something because I doubt that you could even stand Records.

All of your MP3s must also be encoded at 320 kbps, that is if you listen to MP3s and not WAVs.

Sorry, I am sounding a bit rude and I am arguing matters of taste, which does not get anyone anywhere, but damn man  did you go to the Dr. David Thorpe school of music appreciation.

How did this update inadvertently confirm shielding?  I have been looking at the pictures and text and nothing points to shielding.

Well I just thought that the next step of the brawl debate evolution would be the lack of certain online features, at least that seems to be where the rest of the internet is going.

Yeah, online totally sucks.  I usually call a friend up and we play opposing CPUs while bragging about how bad we'd beat each other.  It's awesome.  That functionality should be in Brawl.

Seriously, now, as far as music goes, several great video game songs were midis.  I have no problem hearing some more, as long as others are orchestrated.  They're offering more songs than we've ever seen before, so I certainly am excited that midis help to allow this.

We already bashed ourselves to such a law standard for the online play already that anything beyond 1-on-1-no-items-random-only-select-stages would be considered a god send.  Though we have high quality standards and Video and Audio... Go figure.

Well we have 9 full weeks of Smashdates until the game releases in the U.S...If somehow this means that we'll see 9 more character profiles then we will probably see these characters...

Ganondorf
Captain Falcon
Jigglypuff
Mr. Game & Watch
Ness

And then possibly Marth and Mewtwo...I'm still on the fence with Marth, but Ike's move set is new, leading one to believe that Marth is still in...Mewtwo has lost his popularity as a super-powerful Legendary as new Legendaries take his place, so I'm thinking he could be dropped (for Lucario?)...

As for Luigi, I'm confident he'll be an unlockable... =)
