The Devil seems pretty cheap. It's kind of lame, yet, at them same time, kind of interesting. I can see it leading to some very interesting and exciting matches. So while it'd be cool to use sometimes, I hope for the option to take specific Assist Trophies out if so I can still use other ones.

I wouldn't describe an assist trophy that puts everyone at an equal disadvantage as cheap.  It is the least cheap item of all since it doesn't even help the user out.

I consider it cheap for everyone because it could mean instant death regardless of damage percentage.

This is what makes Smash bros. great.

No one said how long the screen stays shifted so it may only be for a short time. It's not necessarily an instant death for all.

Devil World is pretty obscure here in the US. What's next, a CD-I Zelda trophy?

Well, I did say "could mean instant death." Goddizzam, does everyone just see my post and automatically disagree with it? It's not like I don't want the Devil in the game at all, I just want an option to turn it off. Isn't that a fair compromise?

Oh . . .  sorry Adrock.

But don't you contradict yourself? How can it be cheap if you don't know what it does?

The whole statement should be striked from the record!

You should be striked from the record. (Wait, is striked a word?)

I have a pretty good idea of what it does. Sakurai's own description was fairly simple.

Just like the Hammer, this'll force players to react to new momentary challenges over the course of the battle, testing their mind's dexterity, as well as their fingers'.

Striked is actually not a word but I chose to use it anyway.

So . . . take that.

Oh and has anyone else noticed there IS a little bit of the stage that remains in the final screen. See? DK is fine.

Maybe that's how it balances out

I'll balance you out... Ok, I'll stop.

I guess I just advocate the existence of a variety of choices and options. Being able to customize matches to the very last detail would add a completely new dimension to this already deep game. Another example would be being able to customize the behavior of AI controlled opponents such as having them retaliate a KO by relentlessly stalking the last player to kill them.

Man, after including such an obscure character, I'll be really sad if they don't include Marin as an Assist Trophy...

As for Devil, I can't wait to see what happens when he pops out on a MOVING stage... ='D

I don't think it's likely that the shift lasts too long, because it would be way too cheap. I think it's much more likely that it happens very quickly, so you have to notice and react right away, and then shifts right back.

I like that Sakurai wasn't exaggerating when he said that we might see some ATs that only the most dedicated fans would recognize, and I like that they can have some really insane effects. Keep these crazy updates coming!

I played this game to death when little and I loved it. I remember that melee's trophy of the little devil was canned for the us version, and in that time I didn't recognize him! from the description of the trophy it seemed stupid it was censored, but then I remember in the game you get crosses to eat the dots and you shoot from bibles, hehe, that might be the reason the game never made it to the US.

How is this C-sticking taken to the extreme...it is one assist trophy that does a very unique and odd scenero, that won't last very long.

C-sticking is a quicker easier method of Smash Attacking that allowed people to an easy method to take the skill out of the Smash Attack concept.

I think this is a very odd assist trophy, and it throws me for a loop...but you know its a good thing to me.

Smash Bros. originally was a fighting game that throw all the rules to fight games out the window and created something fresh.  This seems to continue that trend adding influence from some many genres of games.

He was talking about how you can move the menu screen around in Melee by using the C-stick.  Friends would always do this to me while I was picking my name from the list after choosing my character -- made things quite difficult and annoying.

SMASH BROS. IS THE WORK OF THE DEVIL!!!!

And yes, if this lil' bugger gets in, anyone could.

Yes that is what I was referring to ... and it drove me batty.  What purpose could it possible serve to be able to manipulate the menus in such a manner???
