I just had an idea. What if Pokemon Trainer had a little bit better chance of getting a really good Pokemon from a Pokeball?

*scratches character that he thought wouldn't happen off list*

"Come to think of it, how the heck does Ivysaur use items? He doesn't have any hands!!"

In his mouth, you silly person!

Oh, and some things I am wondering about:

1) Will you actually hear Red yelling out his commands?
2) On stages that move like Rumble Falls, it'll be interesting to see how Red keeps up with the fighting!
3) Will you be able to access a Female Trainer costume?
4) Final Smash: Pokemon-specific or Red-specific?
5) When multiple Reds are picked, how will the Trainers in the background be organized?
6) Continuing on #5, will the different-colored Pokemon wear hats like Pikachu?
7) Will a lack of stamina result in HP damage, or just make the Pokemon dizzy, etc?

So many questions!

It's too bad it seems that Red won't be a secret character, because he would have been perfect for an unlockable for Pikachu...Though I guess it's still possible he could be Pikachu's final boss... ='D

Misty could be the female trainer, after all Red/Blue didn't have a female player character.

All this talk about Red/Blue makes me voice the futile but possibly interesting wish to see the Gunstars in the game.

Bingo... I figure the "4th move" is the FSA.

Also does anyone anticipate a lack of direct control of these characters?  I have a feeling they're CPU controlled with the user calling out times to attack and dodge/block.  The CPU's level of competency drops as the stamina becomes lower.

Thus, your "commanding" a pokemon, which I think is the point of the character.

Wow.  This is just Monday and this update is beginner than all of last weeks updates.

I remember us discussing a Pokemon Trainer, I loved the character idea, but nobody thought it was possible...this is exciting.

Here are my thoughts.

Each Pokemon is a different weight class, light, medium, Heavy.  You will have to learn how to use them all well in competition.  Now whenever you knock a Pokemon off screen you get a point, so the Trainer is going to have to be careful on how he uses them with his damage...but what I don't know is if you KO Ivysaur you don't get it back until your other two characters are KOed...that would be wicked.

Obviously the costumes of Pokemon Trainer will allow you to have a female trainer, but what would be more cool is allowing one to be Ash, one generic male, one generic female, and one to be Misty and one Brock.

Heck you could even give them special Pokemon each, so that you can must learn the pokemon of each costume, but that is HIGHLY unlikely.

I am willing to bet the Final Smash for Pokemon Trainer will still be Pokemon fight specific, and I am willing to bet it is going to a Legendary Pokemon being called to fight.  It will either be one giant attack, or the Trainer will be allowed to throw out this legendary pokemon to use once, or until he calls him back in.

"Misty could be the female trainer, after all Red/Blue didn't have a female player character."

Well, I think they'd use the new female trainer from Fire Red and Leaf Green, if anything...

"Also does anyone anticipate a lack of direct control of these characters?"

Nah, it wouldn't make sense when you need to return back to the stage after being knocked off...I'm fairly sure you'll be directly controlling the Pokemon, with the illusion that they are moving due to the commands of the trainer...

"but what would be more cool is allowing one to be Ash, one generic male, one generic female, and one to be Misty and one Brock"

Pokemon Trainer basically IS Ash... =)

"...and I am willing to bet it is going to a Legendary Pokemon being called to fight."

I thought so too at first, but the wording on the site has me second-guessing..."Instead, he uses the three PokĂ©mon with him—Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard—to do the fighting for him."  I like the idea of each Pokemon using their strongest attack as their Final Smash...

I will guess that these 3 pokemon will not be available in the Pokeballs anymore.  They will exclusively available to the trainer.

Oh, and some things I am wondering about:

1) Will you actually hear Red yelling out his commands?
I think his mouth will move and he'll point in the direction your moving, like a soccer coach or something. You will see him yelling but he won't actually audibly say anything. (otherwise they'd have to make him actually say stuff, if he's yelling non-verbally, then he's just yelling "commands".

2) On stages that move like Rumble Falls, it'll be interesting to see how Red keeps up with the fighting!
Yeah, whatever. That's not a question so I can't answer it. Jerk. Use a question mark next time, it's right there under your pinkie finger.

3) Will you be able to access a Female Trainer costume?
I hope so, just like I hope they have a non-hamster Fox, and both ZS Samus and Zelda with Bikini alt-costumes. (hell, they should even throw a bikini on armored Samuses amour, just to be thorough.

4) Final Smash: Pokemon-specific or Red-specific?
I think the Final Smash might be the Trainer throwing out sh!t-tons of pokeballs, in every direction, like grenades.

5) When multiple Reds are picked, how will the Trainers in the background be organized?
They can fist fight each other in the background. Now you have to watch out in two dimensions (two dimensions of 2D fighting = at least 4 dimensions).

6) Continuing on #5, will the different-colored Pokemon wear hats like Pikachu?
Yes, they wear that almost-nike hat that's in the cartoon.

7) Will a lack of stamina result in HP damage, or just make the Pokemon dizzy, etc?
I would think that they just have less power after a while. Punches don't deal as much massive damage and all that. That's how stamina effects me anyway. But if I over exert myself, I do start to feel dizzy.

I'm guessing a floating platform in the background specifically for him that keeps up with the stage.

I wonder if you can get your opponents over 100% and they attempt a capture.

And yes, I assume a final smash will be when Red throws out a legendary or maybe your current pokeman temporarily evolves to the highest version of itself.

It would be awesome if one of the following were possible:

You could hack Pokemon Trainer to use any three fighters.

Or, there could be a special Pokemon Vs. Battle Mode where you choose PT but pull any three fighters into your arsenal.  So I could switch out Luigi/Fox/Captain Falcon.

In fact, I will be sad now if this is not possible.

He needs to at least yell out the Pokemon's name when he tosses it onto the playing field!

I have a complaint.  Sometimes I get really mad and just want to beat the crap out of a character, and this chicken will always be unreachable.  Torturing his pokemon in front of him just won't be enough.

That would work great. Any other audible command would not fit right as the pokemon would start doing the move before 'PT' not to be confused with PiT actually yells the name of the move (or add a delay to any move worth mentioning). He'd be all like "Charizard!" and I would proclaim "ZOMG! that IS Charizard!"

Because probably that will be the only thing from the Sim City universe in the game? Again, if there is a stage from an already existing game, and it doesn't have an icon, then you are on to something. At present, it's jumping to conclusions from the information available to us.

I'm not saying that there won't be a character from Animal Crossing, but, IMO, there is not enough stuff on the site to positively prove that the icons are only attached to new characters and not also stages.

After he's eliminated in stock mode, he immolates himself out of shame of loss.

This also raises the question of how KOs work in his case. Does the trainer simply disappear like Nana when Popo is KOed and if so, does he jump down from the same "rebirth" platform as the other characters?

I think it would be hella awesome if, in a moving stage, he had to climb around on obstacles in the background to keep up, but I suspect (like someone else suggested) that he'll be on a floating platform which simply carries him around in those cases.

Also, thanks to playing as this character, I will no doubt beat the "LET ME SHOW YOU MY POKEMANS!!!" joke to death.

Sadly, I agree.

I was hoping we'd see Mr. Resetti as playable, but there's really no evidence to suggest it. If anything we'll probably see him as an AT and he'll have the same leaf symbol as well.

It's really uncharted territory, as far as character inclusion is concerned, and we can't use the logic of "there's no AC character because they showed Ike before his level" since they showed the Yoshi level before they showed Yoshi.

It's anyone's guess.

PT final smash probably is 3 pokemon team attack instead of calling a different pokemon since it does say he can only have 3.

I'm wondering how switching them won't break the game, as in right before a final smash like samus's hit or item go off can be blocked by switching and give them an unfair lead.

Well, it's stated that stamina goes down due to switching... so you can do that, but there seems to be consequences regardless. You are right, though, in that it would be a good idea in order to avoid the shorter exposure Final Smash attacks.

Well, it's not like when Zelda changes to Sheik, she's invulnerable. I bet there's never a moment in the "switch" that one or the other Pokemon isn't open to attack; that's what makes sense to me, anyway.

I'd disagree:

I'd say at this moment right here the player would be invulnerable... how long that is, is the question. I hope it's very short period of time.
