There are some Factor 5 / Nintendo stuff that's starting to surface from E3. The stuff is pretty vague and the hints suck...but from what I can decipher from Cassamasina's terrible hinting system...is that they're maybe a VC or DS link to this story.

You know, Julian Eggbrecht did come out on an interview and mention how disappointed he was with 3rd parties on the Wii with graphics. It is my fanboyish hope that they come back to show us all how its done. Maybe Nintendo should purchase them and give them some support to allow some creative freedom for the hardcore gamer. All I'm seeing right now are these games aimed at the casual gamer.

As I recall, Factor 5 did some fancy tricks with the N64 hardware. Maybe they're helping Nintendo get their games working on the VC. Of course, most of their games will require LucasArts to get involved, too. I wouldn't mind seeing that Indiana Jones game they ported on the VC. It had a very limited release.

What exactly was said that deals with F5, VC and/or DS and came from the IGN Wiik N Review?

I'm trying to find where in the podcast they talk about it but I can't find it at the momemt. I do recall something about factor 5 being mentioned but it didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary. Do you the time when they say said events about factor 5?

I don't think that really reveals anything. I don't think we will see a Factor 5 game for a while that is remotely earth shattering for Nintendo. I loved Factor 5 until they ragged on Wii being too weak for what they want it to do.

Of course, console sales numbers talk so we'll see.

Factor 5 is one of the few companies I don't care much about, sure the Rogue Squadron games were fun but they became repetitive and uninspired. So personally I don't care much if they make games or not.

Factor 5 is one of the few companies I don't care much about, sure the Rogue Squadron games were fun but they became repetitive and uninspired. So personally I don't care much if they make games or not.

We can debate about their game making skills all day, but one thing no one can deny is that they know how to really use the hardware. Rogue Leader 3's engine was amazing! If they develop their own engine and license it out to other crappy 3rd party developers, we could see a huge increase in graphic quality for the Wii.

Of course that still doesn't mean people won't make crappy games with it.

I am not even sure about their graphical prowess either, yeah they can make a graphically impressive flight game, but are they are able to push the graphical limits on another genre?

I actually have to agree with Golden on this. Sure, Factor 5 is competent and the Rogue Squadron games did LOOK good. Outside of that, though, I wasn't really a fan of them. What Factor 5 did for the 'Cube that was noteworthy, in my opinion, was provide an early indication of just how good Gamecube games could look.

But could they do that for Wii even if they wanted to? Sure, Factor 5 can push hardware, but on the Gamecube Factor 5 had the advantage of actually being involved in the hardware development process. Their knowledge of how to best code for the system was probably as extensive as Nintendo's. As far as I know, they didn't have that level of involvement with the Wii. Then again, the Wii IS based on similar hardware...

Polygons are polygons. Why would you think arcade flight game polygons work differently from platform game polygons or FPS polygons?

What does AI have to do with anything? AI is calculated by the CPU, not the GPU.

What are you guys arguing about?!?!?!?!?!?! Factor 5 is GOOD! If they were going to make a general engine for the Wii... it'd probably be VERY COMPETENT. Heck, they already made better looking games on the GC than 90% of the Wii's titles already. How can we be upset if they have further involvement on the Wii?

As far as I am concerned, they burned their bridges on their way out. They made a bet on PS3 and now that it looks like it's not going to pan out they want to come back like they never made all those dumbass comments?

I'm not even sure there was a bridge burnt in the first place...same applies to SK...no bridges were burned there either...there's still a lot of respect out there by both Nintendo and Factor 5 for each other...I think the fanboys went and burned the pseudo-bridge in their minds and framed Factor 5 for it...

Ones definition on "dumbass comments" can be quite subjective to the opinion of the person who thinks they are "dumbass comments" I'm not going to even begin to humor the idea of looking up old quotes to support my opinion. I just know that before Factor 5 started playing nice, as it were, with their statements concerning the Wii, they made several rather asinine comments about the Wii when they made the decision to support only the PS3. That decision to support the PS3 solely has apparently not been a wise choice on their part. Look at Lair, they downgraded the game because they overestimated (my opinion) what their game could do on the PS3, and the fact that the PS3 has had everything but a stillborn existence in the world market, add up to the fact that they most likely have a very stupid decision to develop for PS3, and are now facing that very grim reality. With having to sell 600,000 copies or more to break even (compared with 250,000 ~ 300,000 copies for a Wii game) and the lackluster install base for the PS3 add up to a very dire situation for a company that before this new current generation could have been in a prime position to not be in the position that they are in right now. Saying your sorry really is the hardest thing to say, and Nintendo loyalists are very spiteful and vindictive (again, a subjective opinion, mainly mine), and don't take kindly to companies they feel have betrayed them, and will hit them where it matters, and that means not buying their games.
