Making a theme park that's themed like California in the middle of California was an incredibly dumb idea.

I was about to forgive Disney for making such a terrible park, but then I rode Space Mountain and found out that they ruined it.

The Space Mountain in Disneyland? What did the ruin about it. I've only been on the one in France and Orlando.

BTW, France's is a true-blue, full-sized coaster. Not fair.

Though it has a surfing rhythm, that music is Camille Saint-Saens "The Aquarium" from The Carnival of the Animals. It was also used as the prologue music in Beauty and the Beast, and has since become a Disney trailer staple. (Terence Malick also used it as the prologue for Days of Heaven; the piece is synonymous with cinema, now.)

Gee, I should know that...If only I had paid more attention to my Camille Saint-Seans. I mean, you know we've all got his CD just sitting in our cars ready to play at a moment's notice.

Oh, wait. I actually do. But, I don't know his songs, so at least that partially makes up for it. To be fair, I don't think there's an arrangement of this song on it, though. I wouldn't know, I only own it for a solo I was playing in high school.

And why would anyone go to Disney for Roller Coasters? You've at least got a Six Flags nearby, right? Or some other mom and pop amusement park?

I went to Disney in Orlando a few years ago, went on that 'ride' designed by Lucas, the one with the Aliens that escape and bump your feet and mist your neck... yea, its that awesome. Actually the park felt rather claustophobic. Definately designed for little people who live on the yellow brick road.



Cedar Point on the other hand, has so much space between the attractions its very comfortable to walk through the various parts of the park.

One of the linked videos, to that particular youtube vid, had a "Space Mountain with the lights on." It seems so much bigger and faster with the lights out. That's kind of interesting.

That one is now based on Stitch from Disney's Lilo and Stitch. Yeah, they changed it.

And Evan, I listened to Carnival of Animals today, and while I didn't compare the two side-by-side, I'm pretty sure that the catchy Hawaiian tune we hear and Carnival of Animals share little musical base. I'll listen again in a few hours, maybe. Perhaps it'll even be side-by-side, too.

Side by side will do nothing for you, the surf music from Space Mountain just stole the melody, added a rhythm section, and completely reworked it (on guitar!).

I was in Orlando when that Alien Encounter attraction opened. I loved it. I'm not sure I like the fact they took an attraction designed to be scarry, and themed it around a "fun" movie.

ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter was a scary, suspenseful, funny masterpiece. I wish they hadn't closed it, although I understand why they did - it was VERY dark. The pre-show had an evil robot torturing a small, furry creature, and it only got worse from there. At one point, the show splattered you with what was supposed to blood.

Although a surprising amount was carried over from Alien Encounter to Stitch's Great Escape, Stitch is not remotely scary.

The ride actually blows you with fans so that it feels faster than it really is.
