Wii Controller Skins
« on: June 26, 2007, 12:12:11 PM »
OK, I finally found a Wii today (I know, 'it took you eight months?'). I remember about a month ago, i came across a company that makes skins for phones out of silicone. The difference between their skins and conventionally sold ones is this company's have no seams where two pieces are brought together. So they don't rip along those seams. So does anyone know where I can find these?

I got those at launch! I think the ones you're talking about are the official BD & A silicon wiimote skins... they've actually got the Nintendo seal of quality on them!

... doesn't mean a thing. Oh, they're not bad. It's awesome to have a black, blue, green and pink wiimote, and they've got snazzy Nintendo logos on em (Zelda triforce emblem, Wii logo, Yoshi, Peach, respectively). But they'll probably last maybe 3-4 years, because even Silicon tears.

What's MORE important is your wiimote battery solution. Some people use those recharger stands that come with custom rechargeable battery packs. Depending on the placement of the recharge port, these things are probably incompatible with Wiimote skins. (can't charge your battery through silicon skins!) I use regular rechargeable AA batteries, so I'm fine there. But STILL, whenever I switch batteries, I have to peel off the wiimote skin, then peel it back on. It's not too bad, and I've become quite adept at slipping the things on and off, on and off, on and off... but some people will probably get irked by it.

Oh, and not even wiimote skins can protect your wiimote from dust. It CAN still get dusty in the areas the skin doesn't cover... and the wiimote does get a little bit slippery because I suppose the silicon skin degrades onto ity a bit... but that just makes it easier to slide the skin on and off!

I just came back from a gamestop ('Arry Potter) and found that they have it there. They also had some other interesting options, so it might pay to shop and compare your options for wiimote accessories... in addition to figuring out your Wii battery solution first and foremost.

I love my Wii gloves.  Though now they have new ones that are ugly colors but they are ribbed, change color with heat, and have a cover for the Nunchucks.  I really enjoy mine, they glow and let me eat potatoe chips while playing.

... as opposed to the ones that forbid you to eat "potatoe" chips while playing?
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

Have you ever tried to eat potato chips and use a naked WiiMote.  A metamorphisis occurs and they become vicious.  It was only through my quick wits and cat like reflexes that I even survived the day.

Kairon, the ones you mentioned aren't what I am talking about. I remember I just came across the website for the skins I'm talking about out of no where. the ones I am talking about are mono-colored, no bumps or raised areas, and are seamless (one single molding, not two pieces)
