There's absolutely nothing out that I have any interest in until the end of July. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE. MUST HAVE NEW GAMES. How is this drought effecting you?

I'm deluged by games. I've already had to pass up buying Scarface because I'm going to be buying my first-ever Harry Potter game this month (perhaps my first ever Movie Tie-in game EVAR!!! its the wiimote's fault), and that's not even counting the fact that I'm missing out on Driver: PL or RE:4 Wii, both of which I was eyeing at some point in time.

Actually, I have only now just opened up Mortal Kombat Armageddon and am actually finding it a cool and relaxing diversion. After that I have an unopened HeatSeeker to mess around with. Before that I had God Father, and before that I was rocking out some Mystical Ninja with my roommate (and some Contra 3 run throughs). Go back further and Sonic was really engrossing for awhile (stopped it halfway when I lent it to my bro, gotta go back and finish it... more gameplay to be had in that one).

And of course ManHunt 2 next month...

Now, I'll admit that school is keeping extremely me busy. There's a reason Heatseeker is sitting there unopened underneath Mortal Kombat. But that's just 5 or so Wii games I've bought/am buying that have captured my attention, plus some VC goodness.

I'm drowning under games for like, the first time in my life. What are you people talking about?

I only own 3 Wii games and one came with the system. My last purchase was Wii Play. I've mostly been using the Wii for Melee. I am getting RE4 so that should hold me over for a while though probably not long enough until Metroid Prime 3 comes out. So yeah, this drought has effected me greatly as a Wii owner. As a gamer in general, there's a lot to play. I have my sights set on Odin Sphere.

How is it a drought if there are hundreds of thousands of video games out there from the past thirty years and not a single one interests you? You sound like a non-gamer, and not the Brain Training type, the internet type!

I have plenty of games to play.
Pretty much each week I'm trying something new out on the Wii.
And on top of that I have Guitar Hero and King of Fighters XI on my PS2 and all the new games coming out for my Xbox360.

Sadly I really have been neglecting my Xbox360. I've been to bussy with my Wii that I haven't had much time to play on it. I really wish I had more time to play games.

Dirk, I'm dying too don't feel too lonely out there. I really want another Wii game with some substance (that isn't a port of a game I've already played on another system). Due to the lack of Wii games I've defaulted back to the Cube and I am cleaning up the monstrous list I have of unfinished games starting with Super Mario Sunshine(going for 120 Shines, currently at 93).

I'm not sure why Nintendo has fallen into this same drought that plagued the DS it's first year, it seems as if they should've prepared themselves a bit better to deal with the situation.

Maybe you can satisfy your gaming hunger with the Virtual Console or perhaps the DS's  library? Those two sources should have more than enough games to tide you over until Nintendo pulls out the big guns later in the year. Or if you're really desperate you can look into what the competition is offering....

I still have Red Steel and DBZ BT 2 to play through.
I need to beat Super Paper Mario and Zelda TP and I'm almost done with Excite Truck.
And I'm getting RE4: Wii Edition by the end of the month.

There's always going to be a drought if you're too particular in your gaming tastes.

I'm in the same category right now.

Judging by response it seems the solution to any drought woes is to lower your standards and buy crappy third party games that you would never in a million years give a second look at on the Gamecube.  "OMG HARRY POTTER IS COMING OUT!!"  Oh and don't forget to buy old games you've already played before.  Though I'll admit that if the Wii was the first console someone ever had the VC alone would eat up all their time.  The VC's mileage will vary per person.

"I'm not sure why Nintendo has fallen into this same drought that plagued the DS it's first year, it seems as if they should've prepared themselves a bit better to deal with the situation."

I think it's because the DS was such a success that Nintendo doesn't feel that anything that is similar to the DS is a bad thing.  Since the drought didn't seem to affect the DS's success they probably think it won't affect the Wii's.  Hell maybe Nintendo thinks having a big drought full of nothing contributed to the DS's success.  And Wii's get gobbled up the second they go on sale.  Why should Nintendo care if there's a drought when their console is selling through the roof?

Nintendo isn't really to blame for this: their games are coming, and they're leaving a lot of wiggle room for enterprising 3rd parties, which is the #1 thing most 3rd parties complain about Nintendo not doing.

Nintendo sure isn't going to rush their games out, especially when their console doesn't stay on store shelves, and it would reduce the quality of these games anyway so why should they?

It's the 3rd parties who didn't bet on the Wii who are to blame, the ones currently moving development resources over to the Wii. Had they been moving before the end of 2006, we wouldn't have anything even resembling a drought right now.

ALso there have been a solid stream of games, but like stated earlier it depends on what types of games you like lately we have had:

-Scarface (which is supposed to be a really good game)
-Big Brain
-Mortal Kombat
-Mario Party 8

All of which have came out in the last couple of weeks.

I wonder how many Wii purchasers buy the system for Wii sports and then never intend to buy any other games for it ever because they are content to just play that.... Maybe there are even some who buy it just to browse the web from their tv and don't even bother with the gaming aspect? It is hard to say...

Does Harry Potter on the GC have WIIMOTE controls? I'm sorry, no.

My standards aren't lowered. They're actually raised: give me new experiences, give me wiimote controls, make the old new again.

Kairon is right, the new HP has potential with the Wiimote, using it as a wand could be alot of fun.

Or we could all take the Ian approach and just endlessly complain about the same few things day in, day out for years on a video game forum. Oh wait you don't even own a Wii.

Perhaps the reason Ian doesn't own a Wii is that there's so much to complain about? If he has TP for the GC he has seen pretty much everything the Wii has to offer (oh, wait, you Amerikaner have Super Paper Mario) aside from Wii Sports and while that's a nice game it's not going to keep a regular gamer happy.

That makes less sense than not owning it and complaining so much though. I mean I don't really have the urge to join up to a Sanyo microwave forum and complain that Sanyo make microwaves instead of focusing on the massage chair market or whatever (it's true they make massage chairs!). Besides, we all know Ian just changes his complaints randomly from his little grab bag to suit the thread.

"Nintendo should make more real games, all these non-games that I've never played are tearing apart my soul!"
"Nintendo aren't appealing to the mass market with Mario! Mario's old! Where are the new games?"
"This new game is rubbish! It doesn't have the appeal of Mario!"
"This DS game uses the touch screen, it's the downfall of the industry!"
"This DS game doesn't use the touch screen enough, why's it on the DS? Should be on the NES, it's the downfall of the industry!"
"Nintendo don't pump out thirty games a week! They should! Quality over quantity my arse! Just make games you wankers!"
"There are too many terrible games on the Wii! This will ruin the system, just like it did for PS2!"
