Brothers in Arms: Double Time
« on: May 21, 2007, 09:36:35 AM »
I'm starting a thread for the upcoming Gearbox made/Ubisoft published WWII tactical shooter coming to the Wii. I haven't played any of the BIA games before, I assume tactial fps means something like Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six.

Cool thing is this is supposed to have all the missions from the first two games (Road to Hill 30 and Earned in Blood) 31 missions in total.

No screens yet but it's supposed to be getting a visual upgrade. Not sure how much though.  (first came came out on PC in 04)

Multiplayer hasn't been confirmed but coop play is rumored.

Anyone played these titles on other platforms and can you give feedback?

tactical fps doesn't mean anything anymore.

Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six are just quake with army skins now.

Battalion Wars is more tactical than either of them.

Graphically it looks nice, there are some screens in either the last Nintendo power or the one before that. In the mag it also made it seem like gearbox was doing the port and they are very solid.

Agreed with Pro, I think ever since FPS got super mainstream the tactical element was dumbed down/thrown out so  people wont  call it sucky just because its too hard for them.

Welp! I'm going to be falling behind in my Wii FPS collection if I can't squeeze this into my budget somehow!

No multiplayer eh, that'll be their loss when Metal of Honor comes out.  They missed out on a golden opprotunity here.

Bump in Arms!

This interview gets technical about the games graphics, says they have converted the Xbox shaders over and that the game textures are of a higher resolution. I still have hope!

I really enjoyed the BiA games on Xbox, easily two of my favorite FPS' ever. You can't just mindlessly run on in and spray bullets everywhere, you'll probably die very quick! You order your little squad around, where they should go for cover, who to aim for, that sort of thing. There are no health packs floating in mid-air, you'll take about four shots at the most before dying. It's pretty intense, *Zelda rap*. Levels are awesome, graphics were great for the Xbox (I remember being AMAZED that the trees swayed in the wind WOW!), and things! Scripted events are pretty dramatic, too. It wasn't afraid to show limbs being blown off and such either, unlike the Medal of Honor games where there's not a single drop of blood. "WHOA I JUST STOOD ON A LANDMINE I THINK I'LL PERFORM THE SAME DEATH ANIMATION AS IF I WERE SHOT IN THE ARM!"

I'm looking forward to this port (especially considering I just finished watching the Band of Brothers series), but.. Ubisoft have been breaking everything lately.

BIA sounds kind of like GRAW. I'm really enjoying GRAW right now on the PC. I think I'll give BIA a chance.

Interview at IGN Not much concrete info, but one interesting thing is it has two control methods, a tradtional wii FPS style and a mode where only aiming is done with the wiimote and strafing is done by a Z button toggle on the nunchuk.

New Trailer up at IGN

Look interesting from a drama point of view, but the visuals still seem meager.

I don't know what to make of this game, and considering the relatively little coverage MOHH2 has gotten, I don't know if I will be able to glean much from impressions and reviews.

I'm glad that it has been delayed, hopefully gearbox is taking the time to polish the game.

I might give this a go too if it controls as well as MOH:H2.  I'm a bit bumbed that the target framerate is only 30fps though...

Glad to see it has a mature rating.  I like my FPS's rated 'M', it's only right.
