I just read about the five new Sonic games Sega's Sonic Team plans on releasing in the States.  I was thinking if the console games (I'm assuming the five include the Sonic GBA and maybe even the Sonic on N-Gage) would be GameCube exclusive.  Sonic Team has been extremely loyal to the GameCube except for their one release on XBox.  Then again, there are rumors flying about the possibilities of Microsoft and Sega (the thought scares me to death).  Thoughts? Facts, if available?

I think this whole Sonic thing proves that Sega's not being bought out- the IGN article explicitly states that the reason Sega's pushing Sonic so hard is because of slipping earnings. If MS boguht out Sega, they wouldn't have any slippnig earnings because MS would've covered them.

Anyway, this is great. I've always been a huge Sonic fan (my second favorite platformer, right behind Mario) and this sounds like a erally great way for him to make a comeback.

I'm also a huge Sgea fan- second only to Nintendo in my mind. I wish them the best of luck.

sega is a good developer but have made a bad choice on releasing games on the xbox
the games sega released on the gc sold way better than the ones on xbox (eventhough the ones on xbox are considerably better)
sonic team is probably the best developer for sega and next would definately be smilebit
overworks is very good too as they made some great games- shinobi, skies
canning the sports titles from gc wasnt good, but if that means more games from them i am all for them
i just hope that sega doesnt get bought out by microsoft or any company for that matter
i would rather see them make games for all systems
i call the big one bitey.

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle sold huge for Gamecube and it was nothing more than a port of one of the worst Sonic games ever made.  I think that pretty much guarentees that the next Sonic game, exclusive or not, will be on Gamecube.  Sega knows that the Sonic series sells on Gamecube and it wouldn't make any sense for them to switch platforms.  Plus Sonic Team is a big supporter of the GBA/GC link cable.  Since the Cube is the only console that can interface with GBA Sonic games it increases the likelyhood of Sonic sticking to the Gamecube.

Why would Sonic Team stop Sonic on GameCube now? I mean, after Sonic DX, we'll have almost every Sonic game ported to GameCube (With the exception of the wonderful Master System/Game Gear Sonic games.. And Sonic CD)

Actually, I have a strong feeling that Sonic CD will make it's way onto PS2 via that whole "Sega Ages" thing they have planned... *Sad face*

They know there's people like me who'll snap up anything with Sonic! Plus, I feel GC is the system of choice for the old-school gamers, who grew up with the blue blur, and like me, will buy anything based on him! =P

(Hell, I even paid money for Sonic Shuffle)

How many times do I have to tell you people, Sonic Team is not part of Sega! They are an independent company, just like HAL Labs. Of course, I'm sure the Sonic liscense is held by Sega, but no one can stop Sonic Team from joining Nintendo. Besides, didn't they say they would leave Sega if they had to develop for Xbox (except for Phantasy Star Online)?..

Gamefreak: True, they're not Sega themselves but they ARE a first party, which is close enough. Sega owns 100% of them. It's like EAD at Nintendo.

Sonic Shuffle...ouch hehe. I haven't played Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. Is it good? Anyway I'm hoping for a NEW Sonic game (maybe a port of Sonic & Knuckles). The remake of the old one so pointless to buy since I already had it on Dreamcast and beat it.

Also Sega is one of the most talented companies out there. They have introduced games like Sonic, Golden Axe, Phanstasy Star, Virtua Fighter, House of the Dead, the list goes on. Gamefreak are you sure about that? I'm sure Sonic Team can join Nintendo but I don't think they can make Sonic games without permission from Sega.

I like sega alot. The monkey ball series has quickly become one of the best video game series in history. Sonic has always been an excellent platformer. And smilebits games are really good. Jet Set Radio also instantly became one of my favorite games, gunvalkyre and panzer dragoon orta were good too.

I'm looking forward to whatever sega has ready for us.

Actually, IMO, it's the second worst Sonic game in existence (The worst being a very unknown Master System Sonic called Sonic Blast, made by TecToy, only ever released in Brazil)

Mainly because SA2:B doesn't really let you play as Sonic that much, and forces you to take control of other characters that have more puzzle-like levels. No no, Sonic games are about insane speed! Not digging for emeralds!

Personally, I loved Sonic Adventure 2. It's not quite as good as Sonic Adventure, and nowhere near as good as Sonic 1-3/Knuckles, but still a great game, IMO. It really depends on your taste. You really don't play as much with Sonic, though, which could've made the game a LOT better.

I never got to completing SA2:B because of those damned tedious emerald hunting levels that got in the way.  Save for those occasional bits (which you can't skip past), I thought I was a good enough game.  I don't much mind the linearity as insanely open-ended levels make my brain numb from having to remember how to navigate to things or find puny collectables (I'm looking at you Rareware...).
