New idea for NWR Reviews...
« on: April 11, 2007, 01:29:02 PM »
I would like to suggest that, when a new review is posted on the front page and someone clicks on it, they're taken to a page that says "Do you like this game" - with two options "Yes" and "No".

When you click on one or the other, you're taken to a review that fits your answer to the previous question.

Well, obviously, whomever is reviewing the game has to write two reviews - one for the fans of the game and one for the people who dislike the game.  It's obvious that people are more interested in reading reviews from people who agree with them than reading reviews that truthfully convey the thoughts of the person writing the review.

I've been doing this for years. You guys just haven't noticed the re-direction (because it is telepathic!).

That's why you get the "Staff Hero" title and the V-watch.

The sub-headline on every review I write from now on is going to be "I hate you, and the games you like!"

Seriously, though.  Let's just get T-Rex from Dinosaur comics to write all the reviews.  Everyone loves him, so no one would complain.  Except Goombas.  Goombas would complain.  T-Rex would just stomp them, though.

I propose deducting a point from any future review that is delayed in europe beyond 2 weeks.

2.5 FTW!

That would be a good idea, except, t-rex doesn't like videogames.

Nintendo Power always has the 2nd opinion blurb in each review (I think most mags do).

Might be a good idea.

You mean like if you liked 50 Cent Bulletproof?  Then again, if you liked that game you're almost certainly illiterate.

What is said is that I think it would be cool to have a window pop up when you go to a review that asks if you liked the the game with a simple scale 1-5.

1 Hated It.
2 Disappointed.
3 Neutral
4 Like it.
5 Loved it.

Then you could have a pie chart poll code that let the readers of NWR voice their opinion on the game.

I know this is funhouse, but I think this idea is pretty cool.

Unfortunatly, a lot of people who have never played the game would vote, thus negating the ideal outcome...

Hey, that was just that one time
Somehow, I think if I started reviewing the Metroid Prime and Zelda games, I would be a lot less popular of a reviewer!

There's only one review I've written here that I'd go back on, and that's the first Ninja Turtles for GC. I way overrated that. :\

The most fun ones to write have been most of the random GBA ones, because I have no idea what to expect from the game, and I'm either delightfully surprised or horrified, making the reviews really fun to write.

I hate this idea. It presupposes that taste subjective, therefore always correct, and that if one believes the game is good they deserve a review that reinforces why. Perhaps that person should NOT like that game - maybe our review will guide the way?
