Rogue Mafia: Day 2.
« on: April 09, 2007, 06:51:31 PM »
Waaaaah! Waluigi here. Continuing my stoooory. Since most everyone had gone into the sewers to hunt for the heist thieves, I thought I'd go and play a round of tennis while I planned my next move. Actually, my tennis had a point. I had heard that there was a informant who played there. Someone who could provide me some information on what was going on see. A sort of stool pigeon if you will. The only catch was that you had to beat him at his game. A couple of power shots later and once again, Waluigi stood victorious. So, I asked my informant just what the word is on the streets.

He said word had reached him that, if you put the lime in the Coke you nut, and drink them both together, it will make you feel good.

As I pondered this cryptic message, police cars raced by. Asking some bystanders what had happened, I learned that there had been a death. I hurried to the scene. Turns out, it was a sewer. Coppers were going down to find a body that had been reported to them. Well, thanks to my slim physique, I just casually walked over to a sewer drain and slipped my self in. I rushed through the sewers in the hopes of beating the cops to the victim. As I turned into another pipe, I tripped and fell face first into the sewage. Ohhh, it was lousy. Getting up, I turned to see what I tripped over.

Turns out, it was the victim, a metroid named Shift Key. I remember seeing it briefly when I had arrived in town. Examing the body, I saw the metroid had been forced fed great quantities of booze. In its weakened state, unable to think clearly, it then latched onto a block of ice. While it was frozen to this block of ice, a group of thugs bashed its brains in with some lead pipes. By the way, if you ever get a chance to examine a dead metroid, I highly recommend it. They have a really neat squishy head, almost like Jello. And when you pat the squishy head, it makes a funny little boinging sound. Anyways, after I finished playing the Super Mario Bros. theme on it's head and collected all the information I could from the scene, I hightailed it out of there. Frankly, there's only so much poo gas a person can take.

Emerging into the bright daylight sun again, I pondered my next move. Who would be affected by this metroid's death? Then it came to me in a blinding flash of pain as I hit the pavement. Never stand in the middle of a road after emerging from a sewer. Vehicles don't expect it. Since I wasn't sure how much time I had to get to my suspect, I only let the doctor at the hospital bandage my head instead of putting it into a cast. Stopping only to get some Jello at the Hospital cafeteria, (the metroid really got me craving some) I hurried to the one person who might have a connection with the metroid, the dark space pirate commando. I had also seen him at the docks and the information I gathered from the metroid seemed to indicate that at one time, it was the pet of this pirate commando.

I tracked him down to a seedy hotel called Aether Prime. The hotel clerk gave me his room and name, Sir_Stabbalot. I hurried up to his room only to find the door ajar. Entering the room, I saw that the commando had died. It had overdosed on phazon. Someone else had already been through his room though. It had been ransacked something fierce. I did my own my examination but could find nothing. Who ever had been there before had taken all information on this pirate commando. The only thing I knew about him was his name.

I decided to stop at a local pub to gathered my thoughts of what had happened and see if I could make sense of the clues that had been provided. As I nursed my drink, I kept my ears open and listened to the conversations around me. The big rumo going around was that the hiest gang had fled to the abandoned warehouse district and was hiding out there now. It seems a group of people were going to get together and conduct a search party of their own. I decided I would check back with my informant to see what he had to say on the day's events. So, I hit the hay and got up the next morning.

The second day went something like this:

I've also been debating what to do with the revealing of the roles and the involvement of the mad scientist.

Perhaps you remember S-U-P-E-R's game where the barrel brought someone back from the dead and that was all it took to wipe out the mafia even though they had played well up to that point. I've decided to take a page from Wandering's book. The roles of those who have died will not be revealed until the mad scientist uses his power/ is dead/ or has used his power all up.

So what this means is, you will only learn who has died each day. However, when the mad scientist brings someone back to life for a day, then all roles will be revealed up to that night. If after awhile the mad scientist uses his pwer a second time, all roles will be revealed from then on since no one else can be brought back. Likewise, if the mad scientist is killed, all roles will be revealed each night since no can be brought back. So, a little extra twist for you. It's up to the mad scientist to figure out when he should use his ability.

Also, I've been negligent in assigning villains to some people. That will change tomorrow and everyone will have a character.

Other than that, I don't think there is anything else I have to mention. So, back to the vote.

EDIT: Just remembered. The voting thread closes at Midnight Eastern time again. So, now you can have it. I'm off to bed now.

I doubt the mafia was nice and didn't make a hit last night and it's not day 3 so there's no other explanation of stabby death

but why Pale? anyone could have put out that hit. i think it's a little obvious to assume it would be Pale, even though i'm sure their "rivalry" was largely just a bit of fun.

yeah, i'm not sure i really like this idea either. in wandering's game there was the option to reveal the roles each night. now it's all upto the mad scientist who may or may not ever even use his power.

Today is a brand new day and I have you all to thank for inspiration...also extra thanks and apologies to whomever drove me home last night.  I had a bit too much to drink.

But, not today.  You have all inspired me to look towards the future for a new life in villainy.  All of you have such storied and wonderful crimes...even you young ones whom have just started.  And I have been sitting around mopping about my past.

Yesterday, I figured it out.  Evil is all about IMAGE.  So today I am going to work on my portfolio and get some nice glamor shots for business cards.  I figure I can work my way up...and one day.  IGGY KOOPA, will be as big and powerful as Bowser himself.

Today is a brand new day.

You are right.

Someone, someone who has a killing role was not present yesterday it seems. Can anyone be bothered tabulating logins?

Anyway. In these uncertain times, and my guilt in starting the bandwagon against a most liekly innocent Shift Key, I'll Vote Garnee

I posted this in the players thread but will post it here since it has info for everyone.

Just some more clarification on a few things. Some people have been asking me some questions lately about stuff so hopefully this will help everyone out.

The back-up/doctor can protect someone from the day's vote at any time until 10 pm Eastern or 2 hours before the day's vote ends. This will allow people a chance to change their votes if they need to.

The Chivalrous Villain can be recruited by the mafia. He would most likely stop using his power though. No sense killing mafia when you are a mafia member yourself.

There are many ways a person can die in this game. It could be by the vote, by mafia, by the killer, by the tough guy, by identity theft and by the chivalrous villain. That doesn't mean you are going to see all of those deaths occur every night. If the death count is low, don't worry about. There's most likely a reason why. When the mad scientist uses his power, not only will roles be revealed but also the way a person died will be revealed.

If you have the ability to kill someone in the night and want to avoid hitting the same person as someone else, you can send me an alternative hit. So, let's say that a person is killed by the tough guy. However, you sent out a hit to kill the person being killed by a tough guy. Since that person is already going to die, you could send me an alternative.

Know this, if you are the first person to send in a hit on somebody, and someone else sends in a hit later on the same person, the person who sent the hit in first will be the one to carry it out. Also, the way of determining who gets the first hit is this way:

The Vote
Identity Thief
Tough Guy

Chivalrous villain, mafia and vigilante are all counted equal and whoever sends in the hit first on a person will be the one who gets to carry it out between them.

Also, if you have a role but are killed by the vote, you do not get to carry out your role in the night. You were killed in the day.

Hopefully now, everyone has a clearer picture of what can and cannot be done. Also, do not try to read too much into this information. I'm not giving any hints with it.

Dasmos isn't that smart.  Plus the boneheaded mutant said this before it was pointed out that the one who should have done the killing did not do the killing.

True; but if your job in the game was to kill someone every night why wouldn't you do that if you were around to do such a thing?

Now is the winter of my glorious contentment.

So there are almost three certain killers for every full day/night combo, right?  I am reading that right.

There's the mafia, the day vote, and the slasher role, then?  I suppose the Chivalrous villain could, but it seems a little early for him to start killing people blindly, and if Sir_Stabbalot was the CV, there would be three dead people, because the CV kills first, then kills himself.  The tough guy could also kill, but only in the defense of someone else, so in this case, he wouldn't add anything to the kill count, he would only change the one who died.  Perhaps the Back-Up saved someone?  The last person who could kill is the identify thief, if I'm reading everything right.

We know the day vote took shift key, and then we have the following scenarios:

The tough guy could have switched a murder around regardless.
The Back-Up could have guessed a target and saved him.
The Chivalrous Villain could have guessed a mafia member, and killed him, and neither the mafia nor the slasher killed anyone.
The mafia killed SS, and the slasher didn't do anything.
The slasher killed SS, and the mafia didn't kill anyone.
The identity thief killed someone, and the mafia and slasher did nothing.

To me, the most likely case is that the mafia or the slasher didn't kill, because they are the two that can kill every night, barring a block.  Does anyone have a list of people who didn't log in yesterday?

As far as I can tell, Garnee is the only one who didn't login yesterday.  However, if you expand the search to include those who did not post in the Day 1 thread you have to include Crimm, Dasmos, NuclearSpeed, and Oohhboy.
