I've never played Pokemon before, but recently I considered buying it, but I wasn't sure whether to get Diamond or Pearl. Can anyone either explain to me what the difference between them is, or at least point me in the right direction? If the differences between them are merely cosmetic then I guess it doesn't matter, but for some reason Diamond is consistently selling ahead of Pearl and I just would like to understand why.

Well, I guess the only real difference is that they have slightly different Pokemon in some cases, as well as a different available legendary, the cover Pokemon.  Really, if you aren't interested in collecting every single thing, you won't care about the different version Pokemon.  There's not much of a difference.  Also, with online trading, you can get whatever you miss.

Ah, okay. So basically it doesn't really matter then?

So Nintendo basically found a way to get Pokemon fanatics to buy two copies of the same game then, I take it.

I quit Pokemon, I realized that I put 100 hours into this game yet I still have 20 DS games to go through than I must be out of my mind...I beat the Elite 4 and the prior champion so to me the games was beat.

Haha so true. It's sad but I really don't like many of the new pokemon prior to getting the national dex. They are cool and all but all of my soon to be final team are guys you get after you beat the game =/.

I one day hope for a handheld or *GASP* full blown console version of pokemon that allows you to beat one continents champion then move on to another. Kinda like the show, maybe even restrict you to what pokemon you have access to on the next continent until you get to X point or something.

I never got the GBC PKMN games but didn't silver and gold do something similar with revisiting the hoenn region after you beat the johoto area? Wish they would do something like that again.

Actually I did play alot further into the game after I beat the champion (at the 55 hours mark), so I did 45 hours extra, it's just that there wasn't much incentive for me to continue.

Actually, that was Kanto. Kanto is the original region, then Johto, Hoen and now Shinoh. This worked for G/S/C because Johto and Kanto are on the same land mass, this is why they have the same pokemon league. Hoen and Shinoh are on different land masses all together. But, a full blown version with ALL the regions would pose a problem with the levels of the gym leaders.

Ah yes Kanto, thank you (my pokemon history is a tad rusty). Thanks for the back story on how that worked in GSC =).

I know it would be weird and a little tricky to work in all the regions but I'm sure they could figure out some system with the levels to make it work.

So far for me the best thing about the game has been playing against you guys online, if my router died I wouldn't have any incentive to play any further either.

Did you have a Pokeball on you? (I read that you need a normal pokeball in your inventory for it to work).

Lol!

Well that does suck but hey it only needs to get to level 20 to evolve right =)

Hopefully the pokeball does the trick and it works next time around.

Okay, I have a few questions:

1. Like I mentioned a few posts back, I neglected to capture Dialga when I captured it.  Should I restart my game?  Or is it not a big deal to not have this Pokemon?
2. I have a Kadabra at Level 50 and finally figured out it won't evolve because it needs to be traded.  I put it up at the GTS, asking for another Kadabra in return.  If that trade goes through, will it evolve into an Alakazam?
3. How does a Sneasel evolve into a Weavile?

Thanks...

1. Probably not. Dialga isn't allowed in the Battle Tower, and the most common form of Wi-Fi battles is typically a no-"ubers" gentleman's clause. If you are into that, though, then it might be worthwhile to restart... although that's a lot of work for one Pokémon.

2. I believe so.

3. Equip a Razor Claw on Sneasel, and level it up at night to evolve it. It's worth noting that you will lose the Razor Claw in the process, though.

your better off trading with someone you know (or a forum regular) and trade back.  This way you know what moves your Alakazam will have and you know the stats that you raised it and such.  Personally I've evolved my Kadabra and Graveller from thatguy and shecky from these forums.

That's a great idea.  Too bad when I went to get by Kadabra back it had already been traded.  It still has 2 of the same moves it used to have, and I haven't used any TMs yet, so hopefully I can just turn it back to normal.

Now I forgot where the name changer is.  Can anyone help me?
