This just in...THE WII ADS PROMOTE VIOLENCE!
« on: March 28, 2007, 04:31:37 PM »
I kid you not, people have actually complained that the Wii ads currently running on TV promote and encourage the practice of violence and crimes.

I ain't kidding...

But this is the absolute best part...
"Seven complainants found the "depiction of violence in the ad offensive and disturbing". One viewer stated that it was reminiscent of recent videos released by hostage-takers in Iraq."

Good GOD people have nothing better to do and instead nitpick everything that is on TV...

"An additional four complainants believed that the ad glorified violence and the use of weapons, and could encourage children to emulate such actions."

Let it be said that I predicted the arrival of this kind of complaint the DAY Red Steel was announced.

The ASA threw the complaint out, though.
"OK, first we need someone to complain about something trivial. Golden or S_B should do. Then we get someone to defend the game, like Bill or Mashiro. Finally add some Unclebob or Pro666 randomness and the thread should go to hell right away." -Pap64

It's threw! Man, I had to read that sentence at least three times until I figured out where you hid the verb.

I hate the Advertising Standards Authority even worse than the parents.

Do you realize they had 17 complaints?

17!!!

OK, let's put it in small numbers, say between all the times that the ad was shown maybe 2000 people saw it...that means 0.85% of all people were offended, less than one fricking percent!!!

I'm sure the number of people that saw the ad were much higher than that, but who knows. You know, you really can't please everyone, so I'd understand if they had higher than 10% of the viewers make a complaint ya might want to reconsider the ad. But that's like a 99.15% approval for the ad, right?

That's not exactly a solid argument.  Statistically speaking, for every one person that complained there were probably 100 others who were offended yet didn't complain either because they didn't know how or were too lazy.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Every one of the complaints were likely from Sony agents.

So, not only does the Wii allow young kids to look at dirty pornos on the Internets, it also supports TERRORISM.

Nintendo, have you no shame?!
