At the London launch everyone who bought a PS3 also received a free 46-inch HD television and a taxi home.

At the head of the queue, 17-year-old Ritatsu Thomas said the giveaway and PS3 had been worth the 36-hour wait.

He said: "I feel fantastic. I'm delighted that everyone here also gets a television."

Mr Maguire said the TV giveaway in the UK was a reward for gamers' patience.

Why, oh why  didn't I goto the UK launch of the PS3 and purchase one for a FREE HDTV!!!???

Other than the fact that I don't live in Europe, there is no other excuse. They gave out a little more than 100 HDTV's to all the eager Sony PS3 purchasers who waitin in line for the laumch!!! It could've been ME!! IT COULD'VE BEEN MEEEE!!!

Sounds tempting. HDTVs are pretty expensive, and "buying" one for 600 bucks sounds great! But considering that:
- HD TV is barely out there
- The PS3 sucks

It makes the investment even harder to do.

Buy PS3, recieve free 46" HDTV (est. cost = $3500-$5000).
wait two weeks and return PS3 unopened.

No money spent, FREE 46" HDTV. Sounds like a great investment to me.

Since you put it that way, that IS indeed tempting.

The key element for me would be getting the 600 bucks back. Once I am able to do that I am SOLD.
