The title of the article should be "Top 5 people we can say are overrated in order to get hordes of hits from the angry mob."
Contrary to what they make it sound like in the article, Miyamoto does have a huge say in every game he is involved in. Now, there are so many games that most of them he didn't necessarily come up with or write the game idea, but he still says whether or not something makes it out as it is or requires a change. Some may call that a glorified QA role, but it is a hell of a lot more than that. Product quality is a huge thing inside (most of) Nintendo. While people may bash some of Nintendo's non game related decisions (horse power, hi-def, online structure, etc.), very few people bash the decisions made on games that Miyamoto plays a role in.
Having other people on the list, like Iga, just cements the point even more. "He doesn't do anything new anymore" blah blah blah. The man is one of the leading people in keeping 2D gaming alive. He is an incredibly important person to the industry as a whole. I also find it odd, that in this list they didn't include any MS related developers. Like it or not, they are the newest players in the industry. If anything, some of their developers and producers should be subject to question because of lack of long term examples. I mean, couldn't I say Bungie is overrated because they haven't tried doing anything besides Halo? I mean, that's a similar argument to what they use in other sections of the article.
All of that said, don't even get me started on them even adding Reggie to the list. Reggie is far from overrated unless you try and put him in a role that he doesn't actually fill. The guy markets stuff and all people can do is talk about him and his company. That's some success right there.
/sigh, anyway. Top 5 type lists are pretty stupid anyway. Hit mongering pains in the ass is all they are.
