Revolution conspiracy
« on: March 09, 2007, 09:51:49 AM »
Ok guys, it took a lot of weed to think this up, but I think I have some solid ideas, please bare with me.
The DS has these capabilities
Wifi, decent graphics, internal memory (which can be expanded by game cart), and microphone.

The Wii has
Wifi, decent graphics, internal memory, buddy list, message boards

Yet neither never have (and ill guess never will) utilize what they can do...

what can they do?

Why isnt there an application that allows us to know when people are connected to wifi? It MUST be easy to implement, yet the ds only has done it limited in a few games. the Wii only allows you to send small bits of data to one another, but why not have sort of what ps3 is doing? where you can "go" to someones house?

Imagine, millions own a wii and a ds.  Every system in reach of wifi should theoretically be able to communicate with each other. I should be able to be on my ds in wifi, my friend in some other place with wifi and i should be able to voice chat with him. This IS possible in theory, no? it has the hardware

the wii should be able to do the same. why cant i connect with 5 people or so in a chat i host, and voice/type or video chat with?

it was done ....like sheet... in animal crossing to a degree...

now, why wont they do this?
why hasn't the ds, over 3 or 4 years ever let me voice chat willy nilly with whoever i wanted to with...

the only reason i ever hear is

PEDOPHILES.... well guess what, i don't buy it

pedophiles will be pedophiles no matter what.

i think the government wont allow nintendo to implement these features that are ALREADY ON THE SYSTEM...

Nintendo put these things in it, but they don't use it...

imagine how pissed Verizon would be if suddenly, everyone with a 100$ ds and wifi were able to voice chat with each other?
imagine how all the phone companies would vanish if we could call people with our wiis? imagine how much money our government would lose over this?

and you know what they do?

they say "PEDOPHILES WILL RAPE ALL OF OUR KIDS"

and us, WE THE PEOPLE, say....ok, fine

.....am i wrong? shouldn't all of these features be availble with these technologies by now? what is stopping them other then....... i have no idea...

if nintendo ever DID do this

it would be a revolution

the evil phone companies would completely collapse.

Imagine using your DS like it CAN be used, connect to wifi, locate a buddy, and communicate with him...

I'm upset at nintendo for releasing these technologies and basically do nothing with them and say ..."well, its not in our cards"

would they be sued? someone please shed ligght on this....

LETS JOIN TOGETHER AND MAKE THIS HAPPEN.....

maybe, someone who has a developers kit (or make a mod chip) can make a "game" that was just more or less code that made it possible to connect to everyone else with wiis and ds to talk to each other, like human beings?

I for one am pissed at being held back over ....fear?

[17:59] sanewave: im poorly spoken, i know
[18:01] xPaladin: you mean like xbox live
[18:01] sanewave: but you pay for xbox live
[18:01] sanewave: and you cant carry it in your pocket
[18:01] xPaladin: i'm just saying
[18:01] sanewave: theoretically, cant your ds have a game that has a buddy list that lets you know when someone else is on in wifi?
[18:01] sanewave: yeah
[18:02] sanewave: why wouldnt nintendo do this full forced if it wasnt being stopped by the government
[18:02] xPaladin: well first of all
[18:02] xPaladin: a nintendo live service would cost money
[18:02] xPaladin: unless it used the battle.net schema
[18:03] xPaladin: cause the wifi is peer to peer and not peer to peer through a network
[18:03] sanewave: i think its a good conspiracy
[18:03] xPaladin: the wii has something like that
[18:03] xPaladin: because wiiconnect24 essentially connects to a service
[18:04] xPaladin: and I think actually some of that functionality works. you can have friends over the wii
[18:04] sanewave: you can, but its not very instant
[18:04] sanewave: and you can only send people messages or miis
[18:04] sanewave: why cant you direct connect to them?
[18:04] xPaladin: and your argument about phone companies collapsing is not very solid we still need internet backbone that they control
[18:04] sanewave: using your wifi you pay for
[18:05] xPaladin: why would you want to direct connect?
[18:05] sanewave: if i can see you are online, and connect to you, i can talk to you live
[18:05] sanewave: ask you if you wanna play pokemons with me
[18:05] xPaladin: so you mean like an IM service
[18:06] xPaladin: well they claim its to protect kiddos
[18:06] sanewave: which is bs
[18:06] sanewave: its to protect cellphone providers
[18:06] xPaladin: lol
[18:06] xPaladin: dude they own the internet, using wifi will not bypass them
[18:06] xPaladin: closest you can get to a bypass is using say ventrilo
[18:07] xPaladin: but you're still using bandwith to do it
[18:07] xPaladin: so you're paying the cable companies which are just as evil, if not more
[18:07] sanewave: so you think its all about protecting kids from people?
[18:07] sanewave: is that the governments job?
[18:07] xPaladin: in fact phone and cable companies are really becoming one in the same
[18:07] sanewave: is that nintendos job?
[18:07] sanewave: they make us pay for stuff we cant even use cause they are protecting little timmy?
[18:08] sanewave: i smell a rat
[18:08] xPaladin: you don't seem to understand that the bandwith has to come from somewhere
[18:08] sanewave: hmm
[18:08] sanewave: point taken
[18:08] xPaladin: an ISP, specifically a phone provider or cable provider
[18:09] xPaladin: either way the major routing hubs are government owned
[18:09] xPaladin: actually not sure about govt owned, but someone's paying for them
[18:09] xPaladin: those are the hops you make when connecting to something
[18:10] sanewave: id rather pay nintendo like xbox live for something that works well, then pay nothing for something that barely works
[18:10] xPaladin: anyway it really is just to protect kids from idiot adults and adults from idiot kids
[18:10] xPaladin: have you really ever used xbox live
[18:10] sanewave: its protecting me from my friends as well though
[18:10] xPaladin: you'd give up gaming in a day playing halo 2 on that sh1t
[18:10] xPaladin: imagine counterstrike x 100000
[18:11] sanewave: i just wanna be able to talk to my friends though
[18:12] xPaladin: it's a thinly veiled subject man

Well, Nintendo was toying with this idea with DSpeak. A lot of the stuff got implemented in Metroid Prime Hunters. Also, Clubhouse Games had basically an online Pictochat.
