It's control, and until people figure out how to use the Wiimote properly, they're going to give varied reviews depending on how well they can get the control to work.

When I first played Sonic: SR, I was faced with a tutorial level where I had to collect rings by moving left and right with the Wiimote, and I didn't miss a single ring.

I had no problem with the non-upgraded Sonic, and yet many reviewers bash these games because they have a hard time with the controls.

All you can take from it is that some people will have issues with the controls while others will not. Simple as that.
"OK, first we need someone to complain about something trivial. Golden or S_B should do. Then we get someone to defend the game, like Bill or Mashiro. Finally add some Unclebob or Pro666 randomness and the thread should go to hell right away." -Pap64

Maybe. There are times when I want to shout at a reviewer: "No, it doesn't have bad controls, you just suck! Did you forget how hard it was to adjust to the analogue stick?"

...More often, though, I want to shout at game-starved Nintendo fans who talk up crap like Red Steel.

I have to agree there, though I would not call Red Steel crap more so average and Sonic slightly above average (so I'd give Red Steel a 5 and Sonic a 6). But I do think we as Nintendo fans get to the point we will take anything, heck just look back at the N64 days, some of the crappiest games around sold decently because there was nothing else (Anyone recall Cruisn USA). At least this time around I think PS3 owners are experiencing the same thing!

Hey, I like Cruis'n USA vastly more then Mario 64 and Perfect Dark.  In fact its among the very elite few racing games that I even consider fun at all, Excite Bike is in there too.

Not every child can make the block shapes fit through their respective holes (as a reminder, there's one hole for every shape).  Some kids realize defeat and spend their time wisely, making mud pies.

Others get a hammer.
