Hi, I'm interested in buying an import game from Japan, and I live in the U.S.  Can I legally do this and use a freeloader?  Or is it illegal, thanks, I just can't wait for a certain game, but my friend heard something about being illegal.

not really but apparently Ebay thinks so, I tried to sell an old copy of Naruto 2 with a Freeloader and they tried to shut my auction down.  Seriously though i don't believe it is illegal because doesn't the Action Pro Replay have a function to play import games?  I believe those are sold in EB and GS stores.

Well, legal where?  According to the boxes it's illegal to use Japanese games outside of Japan, and it's also illegal to rent games or sell used games in Japan.  It's kind of ridiculous and you'll have to decide for yourself whether that will deter you or not.  

The funny thing is that Nintendo of America doesn't really try to deter people from importing and actually seems to use it as a litmus test for games they aren't sure about localizing.  That's why we have Elite Beat Agents after all.

Actually, I looked at my boxes again and I think that second-hand sales in Japan may actually be legal now since newer games don't have that warning.  Rental and use outside of Japan are still prohibited though.
