This is the European thread anyway.

Also this means Lunar Pool will pop up soon, though nobody cares anyway.

So much for all that "Europe gets all the cool games first" talk.

When is Sin & Punishment coming out?

Hell, just release it as WiiWare with Wii controls.

Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Lost Levels is up. Has anyone downloaded it yet? I want to confirm if it has the same music problem as PAL Super Mario Bros (music being way too fast).

Complete list:

Mario's Super Picross* (SNES, 900)
Neutopia II (TG, 600)
Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels* (600, NES)

*= The game is marked by a sun or star-like icon.

Only Lost Levels is marked as "available only for a short time". Combined with the price I'd say NoE was worried they might look sane.

NoE gave details about the "Hanabi festival".

It means that during September they'll release games for the VC that weren't released before in Europe. No idea if they're time limited, Lost Levels is marked as "only available until the end of September" but Super Picross isn't...

Mario Week (14.Sep)
SMB: Lost Levels (NES)
Mario's Super Picross (SNES)

Ninja Week (21. Sep)
Ninja Gaiden (NES)
Ninja JaJaMaru-kun (NES)

Sci-Fi Week (28. Sep)
Sin and Punishment (N64)
Gradius III (SNES)

I don't really like the idea of limited time VC games.  First of all how does that work if you buy it, delete it to make room for something else, and then need to re-download it?  Second of all it just sucks outright to have a limited release.  At least with physical games if something was out of print I could always find a used copy.  But with this if you miss the limited time you're screwed.  What if you wanted this game but didn't even own a Wii at the time it came out?  I REALLY hope NOA does not even think of doing such a thing.

Having a promotion to have games that were never released in Europe available on the VC is a really good idea and I hope NOA copies that.  Too bad they had to introduce limited time bullsh!t at the same time.  I see no reason whatsoever to do that on a download system where there is no manufacturing costs.  It just seems like typical Nintendo doing something in a f*cked up manner just because.

No idea what the idea behind it is though it REALLY wouldn't surprise me if they're pulling it to sell another version somehow (e.g. Allstars). Or maybe NoE was just worried they might be better than NoA at anything so they just had to screw it up.

I mean, hell, there's no reason for japanese games to cost 100 points more, either.

I can confirm the PAL Lost Levels does not have the same audio problems as PAL Super Mario Bros. And it's fantastic.

Are you sure it really IS PAL? Wouldn't surprise me if it's run in NTSC mode instead.

Anyway, today's update (it's Hanabi Festival Ninja Week):

Ninja Gaiden (NES, 600)
Ninja JaJaMaru-kun* (600, NES)
World Class Baseball (600, TG)

*=The game is marked with a fireworks icon

Ninja Gaiden's text says it was released in Europe, only the name was changed. How that justifies the 600 point price I have no idea. Especially after Super Probotector got released under just that name on the VC.

BTW, I took the risk and bought ESWAT. It's okay, there are no big flaws but it has a really boring pacing. Though I think the Megadrive's soundchip makes the atmosphere worse than it should be.

EDIT: Okay, with some practice the boring bits don't take too long to play through (Three Mile Island is still really annoying for me) and you can get to more interesting parts like Mission 5.

The PAL VC just got its most expensive game.

Gradius III* (SNES, 900)
Legend of Hero Tonma (TG, 600)
Sin & Punishment* (N64, 1200)

*=The game is marked with a fireworks icon

The announcement for Sin & Punishment mentions that it did get an English translation (at least for the menu, training and ending).

If you guys don't buy Sin and Punishment on the VC, I will personally hunt you down and beat the living crap out of you.

That's because that's all there is in the game. The entire plot had English voice acting back when it was released in Japan.

Well, they said it was modified for the VC.

I'd have bought it yesterday but I found that the only store in town that used to stock them no longer carries VC point cards.

None in stock in the neighboring town, except for a few that were sold for 25€. Like I'd pay that.

Perhaps there's a market for Americans buying points cards for Europeans and emailing them the codes.  I wonder if there are any restrictions in place to prevent that.

I finally got Sin & Punishment but had to pay 25€ for the points card (actually I got it for my birthday but the card cost 25€). It was impossible to get a card for 20€. And that's with Europe's already seriously overpriced points cards compared to other regions.
