Mario Party 8 still set for a March release?
« on: February 05, 2007, 11:41:02 AM »
As many of you know, a while back Nintendo released a Q1 list that included everything being released from January till April. Originally, Mario Party 8 was going to be part of this schedule. But then Nintendo updated their lists and MP 8 was mysteriously absent, leading many to believe the game had been delayed. Nothing has been mentioned about this...till now.

You see, my dad went to pick up my nephew's Wii (yay he finally got one!).The employees offered him the opportunity to pre-order Mario Party 8 for 5 bucks. They even told him to come pick up the game on March 6th before 3:00PM!

If its true that Nintendo has delayed the game and erased it from its Q1 release schedule why does Gamestop still have it listed for a March release?

I think this is Gamestop not updating their databases and are still thinking that the game will be released in March. I checked their websites and they too have MP 8 listed for a March date.

So which is it? Is the game still set for March or has Nintendo delayed the game till further notice?

People need to learn that game stores are the worst place to get updated release dates from.  They are slow.  If you read the internet you are probably more informed than they are.

I just re-confirmed at Nintendo's press site.  It is still slated as Q2, which means April-June.

I know, hence why I found it weird when the store was offering dad the chance to get the game in March. I even told dad over the phone that Mario Party 8 was delayed and that the final release date was still unknown. We still reserved it, but I was still wondering WHY the stores had that date.

The store wants your money.  If possible, they want it sooner rather than later.

It's easy to get someone to pre-order a game that comes out next month and then say "whoops, it was delayed".  It's a little bit harder to get someone to cough up cash today for a game that might come out in 2-4 months (or longer).
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

The guy at Gamestop today wanted me to preorder Smash Bros.  I told him that there is no official release date and he told me that there was.  He then pulled out a Game Informer magazine to a spread on the New Smash bros which had in the tiniest font June,3,2007.  He then looked satisfied like as if somehow he managed to prove me wrong.  I just left, I don't want to even deal with people like that.

NEVER EVER PRE-ORDER GAMES!!!!!!!!!

It's just a way for game stores to get your money and lets face it, when do games ever sell out where you can't buy them anywhere?

The only reason you should ever pre-order a game is if they give you something extra for nothing for the pre-order.  A T-Shirt, Zelda Ocarina of time bonus disk.....whatever.

If they want your money early......make em earn it!!!!

I wouldn't say never.. You can't even pre-order WiiPlay anymore because of the controller.

I love freebies. Soul Calibur 2 art book like a motherf*cker....

I have to disagree though. Pre-orders are great and it comes off whatever you pre-ordered. All you have to do is remember what and where you pre-ordered. I pre-order at Game Crazy. It's just infinitely more convenient seeing as I work in the same building.

I very rarely preorder games, but I did preorder Wii Play back in early December because I wanted to make sure I got my fourth controller as early as possible.
