Definitely renting.

I just picked up a copy when I stepped out for lunch a little while ago. If someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll post some impressions later tonight after I get it home and have a chance to play.

I'll have it through Gamefly in the next week.

I finally got a chance to sit down and play Scarface: The World Is Yours. I honestly won't have an opinion either way until I can really get familiar with controls. Until then, I will continue to have camera problems (the camera moves with the Wii-Mote) and a pointer which goes out of range. I didn't get all too far (not far enough to save), but it looks pretty good for what we've seen from the Wii thus far. I went into this game thinking that it would play similarly to The Godfather: Blackhand Edition and from the short time I've spent with it, it feels completely different.

So far, the game is quite entertaining. During the initial training mission, I was LOL when I saw "left nut" appear on the screen and I realized that is where I had just shot an enemy. Great stuff. At this point, I'd say if this game appeals to you, it's probably worth your money. If you're on the fence wait until a few others get to play it and post additional impressions. I'll probably play (and post about it) again tomorrow night. Sorry I can't be any more definitive.

So far...hmmm...so far the game feels a little more on rails than Godfather...but it definitely feels a bit too early for me to post official impressions...

I've put in approx. 2 hours on the game...

The production values for the title are definitely top notch...the opening credits makes me feel like I'm playing something special...especially with the non-stop music artists it had scrolling for a while.  The game is definitely not for the kids to be around...

The graphics are better than Godfather's...but so far...it is definitely early for me...I need to come to grips with the controls that sometimes is going all over the place...the camera moves with the cursor and can get stuck...luckily you can Z-target...

Folks...don't make my mistake...you can Z-target...it s'okay...s'okay mang...

I just got it, played for a good half-hour. I like what I've played so far. It's too bad it has PS2 GTA3 graphics, I really think Godfather looks A LOT better than Scarface. The production value is very good though. I've got a feeling a lot of people will love this game, but then when Manhunt 2 is released, they'll stop playing it.

Brandogg...you don't think the graphics are better than Godfather's...I'd better boot up Godfather again to take a second look.  The environments don't look bland...and actually look better in 480p.  My only grip with 480p is that some of the faces get little grainy holes in them in some of the cut scenes...like in the club at the beginning.

I'm sure some will boo-hoo this, but during one of IGN's interviews, the developer stated that they were a notch above Xbox and just below the PC with the graphics. The best thing Godfather had going for it (graphics-wise) was the partical effects. Everything else is passable.

I don't know. The backgrounds in Scarface are a lot better, but the fire/blood/particle effects, as well as the character models (aside from Tony Montana - he looks fantastic) were way better in Godfather.

I just got it and played about 15 minutes and I too had a control problem.  I immediately changed my camera to advanced and it's much better.  It works just like a mouse basically.  The camera moves where you aim, but if you have the setting on the easiest setting, it moves less, feeling more like a light gun game.   The bounding box is bigger so you can aim within the screen a good amount before pushing the camera left or right(like Red Steel) If you change the setting to expert, it moves a little too fast for me right now.  So I am sticking with advanced for the time being.  I'll post later after I play more.

It basically plays exactly like Max Payne on the PC, accept you use the Wiimote instead of a mouse. I think that's the most accurate description for the controls (on foot) that you can have.

The game is not too forgiving if you don't complete a mission...there are no halfway points...but I guess you have to learn the timing of every level.

Yeah, it's definitely 1986 frustrating in that regard.

I got a chance to sit down a play a bit more yesterday. I put about 90 minutes into it (got to the bank). The other day, I kept getting killed in the hedge maze during the very first mission. I finally found the path out of it, LOL. I'm still not in love with the controls, but I'm getting used to them. I think I like the "advanced" camera setting best.

This game in many respects kicks Godfather's ass.

However, the hand-to-hand combat in Godfather is still better.  Nothing like grabbing someone and choking them out.

Gunplay is about the same.

Scarface separates itself from Godfather because there's just so much more to do.  The RPG elements are deeper.  The fact that using a boat gets you around faster is even better.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the Godfather's RPG elements of taking over the rackets, but it got too monotonous.  There were a few warehouses...but even those became boring and more of the same.

The environments in Scarface are better because there's much more variety.  There's a shitload of alleyways to duck into...even with a vehicle...

That's it for now...

Don't forget to use a bank to save your progress...

Is there anyone else having a tough time finding the game? I've been to my local stores, including gamestop and no one has it. Gamestop told me they sold out of them, which could be promising.

I take it retailers didn't put in many orders for Wii Ports like this and Godfather.

Ba-da-bump you Cock-A-Roaches!

Finally gave this game a rental, me and a couple buddies played it for about 4 hours tonight. Fun game, graphics are nice, level of detail in the missions is good. Controls aren't bad, took a little getting used to. It has an inevitable comparison to Godfather, and it holds up well in many respects. I donno, this may be worth picking up for the Wii, but probably not for awhile too many other great games coming soon.

I haven't been able to play my copy... I finished Godfather though so I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy this game.
